With shaky hands I managed to pick up the phone. After all these years, I haven't even gotten over our breakup.

I dial the number, it rings and he finally picks up. After all my calls since we broke up, he finally decided to answer.

"Hello, it's me. I was wondering if after all these years you would like to meet, to go over, everything. They say times supposed to heal ya, but I haven't done much healing." I say.

"Hello, can you hear me." He begins, " I'm in California dreaming of how we used to be, when we were younger and free." He says softly. Tears fall down my face.

"I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet. There's such a difference between us and a million miles." I say quietly.

"I must've called a thousand times, to tell you I'm sorry for everything I've done. But you never seem to be home." I whisper.

"At least I can say I tried." He said sternly.

"Did you?" I say sobbing. No reply.

"I called to tell you I was sorry, for breaking your heart." I said.

"But it doesn't matter." He said.

"Clearly it doesn't tear you apart anymore." I say angrily. He hung up. I throw the phone onto the couch. I sit on the ground crying.

I went to bed and woke up at 4 in the morning. I decided to call Shawn again.

"Hello, how are you?" I ask.

"I hope that your well." I continue.

"I'm sorry for breaking your heart." He said, even though I broke his too.

"At least I can say I tried." I say before hanging up the phone. The phone rings again, Shawn. I answer.

"Hello, its me. I called to say I was sorry." But then he hung up and he was gone.

Just like the day he walked out, not even saying goodbye.

"Goodbye." I whispered, finally letting myself come to terms of accepting that he's actually gone.
