Hunter did not wake up on Christmas day either. I was really disappointed, but I should have known not to keep my hopes so high. It is seven in the morning, way too early to be awake on a Saturday. There was an old man talking to loud in the hallway, he sounded angry about something.
My back started to hurt so I moved down in the chair, staring at Hunter. Trying to get my head under control of all the thoughts that are spinning around in my head.
Then I hear a knock on the door, almost soundless. The door opens and Amber's face comes to my view, her blond hair up in a ponytail.
"I thought maybe you were sleeping." She says and walk in. I shake my head.
"No." I tell her. She moves to the other side of the bed and I get out of the chair.
"You are leaving?" She asks as I reach for the door.
"Just need some air." I tell her, she nods and I grab Hunt's warm black hoodie and step out into the now quiet hallway. Then I take on Hunter's hoodie and I reach out to the snowing weather and see the busy traffic passing by. The cold air hits me in the face, goddamn it is getting chilly outside now. I shiver and warm my hands.
The sound of a siren comes behind me as I walk back in, I cross the lobby slowly and quietly. Then I met Amber in the hallway stepping out of Hunt's room, and she smiles as she sees me.
"I'll come in later," She looks at her watch.
"Probably around one, I guess." I nod and smile, it feels nice to have her around.
"Thank you." I tell her, she smiles and starts walking down the hall. I step into the room and sit back down in the chair. Then I lay my arms on the edge of the bed and rest my head on them. I stare at Hunter for a long while with my tired eyes. I push myself back in the chair, feeling my veins on fire.
"Goddammit Hunter! If you do not wake up soon I am going to kick your ass out of this bed!" I say so angry that I yelled and it was all in vain. I hit my head back down in the bed and sigh. Then I put my arms under my face and close my eyes, giving in to all the sleep I have missed this morning.
The sound of many footsteps in the hallway cause me to wake up, and the voices that are following them. I raise my head and open my eyes, seeing the sun shining outside. It's been some days since the last time I saw it. The warmth of it on my face feels nice. My eyes drift up to Hunter.
I can't breath. I see her blue eyes on me. They are so wide and clear. She is not moving, just staring like the day I woke up on her for the first time on the couch, frozen. I am looking at her just the same, I can't move, talk and I am barely breathing. I swallow hard, then the sound of talking gets louder. I recognize dad's voice, and then the door behind us opens up. They stop speaking immediately as I hear they step in. My eyes still attached to Hunt's, neither of us has moved yet. I am not sure if I am going to freak out soon. Hunt's eyes start to blink a lot, and she narrows them, then close her eyes and shake her head a little.
"Skylar?" I hear dad say my name uncertain, but still I do not move.
"What is wrong?" I hear the deep voice of Liam. After a few minutes, Hunt opens her eyes, blinking and tilting her head, studying me. She looks at me, I am not sure if she is confused. Amber told me she would be, so I guess she is. Her eyes move up and down, to the right and left on me, as if she is looking for something. Then her mouth opens barely, but nothing comes out. She keeps on trying while staring at me. Then I hear new footsteps coming in, and then on the other side of the bed comes a light haired woman, and I know it is Amber.
"Hunt?" I finally say. She tries to speak, her mouth moving. The whole room is quiet, all waiting for Hunter to say something.
"Wha-what happened to you?" She asks so weak and trembling, and I burst out in tears. Hunt moves her shaking hand towards me and I take it in both of my hands. She looks so confused at me.
"A-and why are you so angry?" She asks, narrowing her eyes.
"I am not angry." My eyes can't stop letting my tears go down my cheeks. She looks more confused.
"Then why did you yell at me?"
"I didn't..." I stop myself from talking, I did yell at her.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" I cry and feel the wet tears streaming down my cheeks."Goddammit Hunter! I just needed to yell at you to make you wake up?" I ask irritated. Everyone around is trying to keep their laughs inside, but I can still hear them. Hunter shrugs weak.
"You are cute when you are angry." She says, and Amber and the rest burst out in laughter. Hunter lets go of my hand grab the hoodie barely, with her shaking hand.
"You love me, today?" She asks with her crooked smile and her blue eyes that I always seem to fall for.
"I love you every day." I tell her, and she smiles brighter.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I need to talk to Hunter." I hear Amber say, apologetic.
"Yeah," Dad says, and I hear multiply of footsteps walking out the door.
"We leave you alone, Skylar you should come to you might divert her." Hunter shakes her head carefully.
"She is not a distraction," She smiles.
"Everything around her is." Her blue eyes shines so bright. I remember she told me that, how could I not, she and her words makes me love her so much. I stand up and kiss her on the forehead.
"I see you in a bit." I whisper as a promise. Then I look at Amber with a smile, and walk out the door.
