Poem #50// The Point

Why do you check your phone eleven times a minute?
When you know he isn't going to answer you.
Why do you bother texting him first?
When you know he isn't even going to view the message.

What's the point of sneaking a glance?
When you know he isn't going to be looking back at you.
What's the point of looking at him in the hall?
When you know he is going to ignore you.

What's the point in caring about him?
When you know he doesn't care about you.
What's the point in trying to win him over?
When you don't have anything to give?

What's the point with putting yourself through hell?
When you know he doesn't like you back.
What's the point of thinking about his actions?
When you know he will never cast you a second glance.

Why do you fall in love?
When you know he won't love you  back.
Why won't you give up?
When you know your love isn't going to last.

What's the point in falling apart?
When you can't put yourself together?
What's the point in loving someone?
If you can't even love yourself.

What's the point in trying to win the war?
When you know can't win the battle.
What's the point of giving away your heart?
When you know they are going to break it?

Why do we fall in love with the people we can't have?
Why do we wish for the things that are lost?
Why do we want what we can never have?
Why do we not pick ourselves up after we fall?

We are scared to be forgotten.
We are scared to be let go.
Just don't let go of yourself.
For you still have a long, long ways,
To go.
