Andrea
We sit at a bus stop a few streets over from Tyler's house. Music played from his phone. His fingers tapped on his knee along with the piano playing in the song. He was extremely accurate. He hummed the words as well. I smile over at him and hum along with him.
At the end of the street, I lug my body off the ground and signal Tyler that the bus is coming. He smiles at me and follows suit.
The bus stops and we pay to get on then take seats. He nudges my knee with his, causing me to look up at him. He grins at me which I return. This day was so far so good, all because of Tyler's company.
Within 10 minutes we make it to the relatively big strip mall, which was where the hardware store was located, as well as a grocery store, a furniture store, a let store and a couple others.
"Before we go to he hardware store could we go into the pet store?" I ask as we step off the bus.
"Definitely." He nods. We walk side by side to the pet store and make our way inside.
It isn't too full, as it just opened a few minutes ago. We go passed the rats and the mice and gerbils which are all so cute. They run around their cages or are sleeping in groups.
In a few bigger cages there are two bunnies and then two Guinea pigs.
"I want a bunny." I pout, looking at Tyler.
"Get one!"
"The money is for the paint Ty." I chuckle, dragging him over to the reptiles. There are some turtles and lizards and whatnot. Then next are tanks of fish on a massive wall. I want fish too, and a turtle.
"I want a turtle too." I say. Tyler reaches down and grabs my hand.
"Another time we'll come get you a pet okay?" He asks.
"Okay." I nod, dragging him to the back where they keep all the cats and kittens and sometimes they have puppies. But not usually.
In the cages are some kittens together then some bigger cats alone in their cages. I rush up to all their cages and stick my fingers through. Some get scared, some stroke my finger with their face and others think it's a game.
"I want kittens too what the hell!" I practically yell, stomping my foot on the ground like a child. He laughs at my behavior and shakes his head at me.
"Come on we gotta leave the cats and go get paint." He tugs me along gently to the door and down the sidewalk to the hardware store.
We walk inside and grab a cart for some reason. Probably so we don't have to carry all the paint cans and brushes and the palettes we need to hold the paint.
We get to the paint aisle. "So what color are you feeling up for?" Tyler asks, looking at the wall of papers showing all the paint colors they have.
"Pastel pink." I state, walking over to the array of pinks.
"Pink wouldn't be a word I would expect to hear coming from you." He chuckles, walking over to where I went.
"I could make it look cool though. I can see it going with my wooden furniture ya know? And then I'll hang up pictures and posters to make it more my style. Plus if it doesn't turn out like I think it will, I can always paint over it." I shrug, grabbing some paper examples. He laughs and peers over my shoulders.
"Light Rose. I like that one." I say, pointing to the color I named off.
"If that's what you'd like, lets go get the paint cans." He smiles as we walk over to the counter.
We get to the counter and order the 2 cans. The old man tells us to wait while he retrieves the cans. We grab some brushes and rollers and palettes and place them in our cart.
The guy places the cans in our carts as pay and with that we're gone.
We struggled to bring everything on the bus home but we finally managed. We arrived back at my place.
"Should we put on our old clothes?" I ask as we set everything down everything in my room.
He nods and leaves to go to the bathroom to change. I shut my bedroom door and dig into my closet. I pull out a massive sweater with paint stains on it from my several paint jobs I've done throughout the years. I take off my clean sweater and leggings and pull on my sweaters and some very short shorts I wear while painting as well. The sweater is so long you could hardly see the shorts. I shrug. Tyler probably won't mind.
I open my door and begin taking down my posters and pictures. Tyler walks in soon after and stops dead in his tracks.
"Andrea!" He shouts, facing the opposite direction. "I thought you were done changing!" He shouts.
"I am! My shorts are short Tyler. It's fine you can look." I laugh at his behavior as he slowly turns around to face me. He shakes his head as I laugh along with him. He begins to help me take stuff down off of my wall.
He puts on some music insanely loud as we begin to remove some smaller furniture and put my bed and dresser in the middle.
Next we dug in my basement for the painting sheets we use when we do paint a room. We bring them up and place the them on the ground near te walls.
Next we grab tape and put it on the door and window trim, alone with one the ceiling so we don't get paint on any of the white.
And with that, we start painting. We each grab some small brushes and begin painting around the tape slowly. We jam out to music and sing loudly, stroking the paintbrush against the wall, watching the lavender slowly leaving and a baby pink shade of pink taking place. It takes an hour and a half to finish around he tape.
We pour one of the canisters into the big palette and each grab a roller. We both start off rolling the along onto he walls.
We surprisingly go on for hours, only take a break or two to eat a snack. Other than that we just can't stop. I think we were both determined to keep going I think to at least get the 1st coat done. We decided we'll take Sunday (tomorrow) to do the second coat.
At one point while Tyler was finishing up the last part. I grab the small brush and sneak over to him. I quickly paint a sloppy smiley face on his back before bursting out into hysterics. He lets out a laugh and shakes his head.
He finished up the last part and sends me a playful glare. He walks over to the paint pallet and sets down his rolling brush. He grabs the other small brush and dips it into the paint. He walks over to me, slowly backing me into the corner.
"Come on Tyler!" I say. "I didn't mean it!"
"Yeah yeah." He laughs. I near the wall slowly trying not to hit it. "Hey Andrea dont touch the corner ! I painted that!" He teases, reaching over and stroking the brush along my torso, making my sweater a pink mess now.
We both continue to paint each other, laughing and screaming at the top of our lungs at just how good of a time we're having.
A few minutes later I'm on the ground clutching my stomach from laughing so hard. "Okay! Okay! I surrender!" I shout raising my hands and dropping my brush.
He smirks down at me and laughs, but helps me up off the ground nonetheless.
And with that we seal up the paint so we can use it up tomorrow and everything else.
I pull some clothes out of my drawer and shove them into my backpack. I change back into clean clothes and pack some more essentials like a hair brush and tooth brush. While I do that, I'm pretty sure Tyler just laid on the bathroom floor and went on his phone and changed the song that was playing halfway through every time.
After everything is relatively clean. We leave my house and it's empty state. We lock the doors and windows and walk over to Tyler's to spend the night.
