Andrea

8 YEARS LATER

August 10th, 2015

I was anxious here sitting in the bathroom as my cousins, Laurie and Ella all scramble around the room grabbing bobby pins, make up and everything else.

I clutch onto the fabric of my robe that clings to my body. I sit in the swirly chair. That is almost as swirly as my stomach right now.

"I'll curl your hair now, alright Andrea?" Ella asks, plugging in the iron and turning it to maximum heat.

"Sure thanks."

"I'll start make up!" One of my older cousins, Lily says, bringing a bin full of make up over to me.

I nod my head. Ella begins working on my now Lilac colored hair, curling it to perfection. My hair color has been a variety over the years. From the colors in high school then to blue, brown. Black, deep purple. Now it's a soft lavender. Laurie tried to convince me to dye it a normal color for the wedding, but I refused and Tyler didn't seem to have a problem with it. It adds all the uniqueness to our relationship. Our story.

Meanwhile my cousin applies my make up. First she adds foundation., contour and power. He adds some light pink blush. Next she applies some shimmering eye shadow to my lids, followed by the most carefully applied winged eye liner ever. And then some mascara.

My anxiety rises and falls as time goes on. If you have no guessed, today is the day that I will be transitioning from Andrea Paul to Andrea Joesph.

I have no idea why I'm this nervous. I've been with Tyler for 9 long years, that is very impressive if I do say so myself. We have been by each others sides from when I was struggling in writers college. To when I got to university and felt incredibly out of place. Eventually it got better, I began getting deep into my writing and since then I've written 2 full novels and am currently on my 3rd.

I also have been with Tyler. Since 2009 he has been involved in the music industry. Now he's in a band, Twenty One Pilots with Josh. They were at a high point right now. They were getting bigger and more successful as they went on.

We have gone through so much together. So again why am I so nervous? I'm marrying the man I love with all heart has to offer.

"You okay Andrea?" Ella asks just as my cousin finishes my make up.

"Fine. Just nervous." I admit.

"That's totally normal, I was totally flipping on me and Josh's wedding day." She replies.

Her and Josh were married last year in the winter time, it was such a beautiful ceremony. The day after was the day Tyler proposed to me.

"You're probably just nervous you'll mess something up right?" She asks. I nodded my head vigorously.

"You don't have to worry one bit okay? Tyler loves you more than anything in the world. You mess up. He'll laugh it off. He'll brush it off. He doesn't care if something messes up. All that he cares about today if you walking down the aisle to meet him at the alter." She finishes her little speech and smiles at me contently.

"Thanks Ella." All the years of friendship we've been through and it gets stronger every day.

I give her a tight hug. "Now come on get into your dress so we can start the ceremony." She says encouragingly. I nod my head as they all file out of the room, leaving me all alone.

I slip into my dress. It wasn't at all extravagant. It was strapless and tight at the bust and hips, then flowed down nicely, with a layer of thin lace over the flowy white part. I slip into my heels and place my mail over my styled hair. I open the door to see its empty, other than my dad walking down the hallway towards me.
