I woke up in an unfamiliar room. It was a white room, but I was in a black bed. Posters were on the walls, and there was a computer on the other side of the room.

Where am I?

"Ali?" There was a knock at the door. Parker soon walked in after a knock, "Oh, you're awake." He smiled.

"Where am I?" I asked him.

"You're at my apartment. You fell asleep at the hospital last night and they wanted all visitors gone. So, I brought you back here. You're a really heavy sleeper." He laughed.

"Am I in your bed?" I began to worry.

"Yeah, but don't worry, I slept on the couch." He smiled.

"I feel so rude, Parker. I'm sorry. You should have either woken me up or dumped me on the couch." I let out a little laugh.

Parker smiled. "It's no problem, Ali, really."

I groaned. "We should get to the mall soon." Then I sighed, remembering yesterday.

"No, don't frown." Parker whined. "I like your smile don't make it go away."

And at that, I frowned even more, just to make him laugh. I love his laugh.

Parker made an unreadable face. "Oh, so we're gonna play that game?" He cocked and eyebrow. And before I knew it, he had jumped on the bed and began to tickle me.

"I wanna see your smile, and it seems this is the only way!" He said, tickling me as I erupted into a lot of laughter.

-----

As I walked into the mall with Parker, people looked my way. And I swear, every person smiled. "Ali!" A few people shouted.

Stacy ran directly up to me and gave me a hug. "I'm so glad you're okay! What happened?" She asked.

I let a frown creep on my face and I saw, out of the corner of my eye, Parker shake his head, saying not to ask.

"I'm just glad you're okay." She smiled.

And before I knew what was happening, Jordan pulled me into a tight hug. "You scared the heck out of all of us! Oh my god Ali, don't do that again!" He said.

"Sorry." I sighed.

"Where were you?" He whispered.

"Ask Parker later." I whispered back and he nodded.

I said hello to a few other people, like Lainey and Bee, Liam and Tybzi. I was expecting to see someone, but it seemed they never showed up.

That was, until I was walking to the cupcake shop for some sweets.

He ran up behind me, scaring the crap out of me. "Ali!" He yelled, attacking me in a hug.

"Dear lord, Ryan, please don't scare me like that." I laughed.

"Me?! I'm the one doing the scaring?! You scared me!" He yelled with a laugh.

"Sorry, dude, I didn't want to talk to anyone." I shrugged as I ordered a cupcake.

"Well, please don't scare me, or any one of your friends, like that again. I thought you died." He said, more serious than I thought.

"It's not me who's dying." I said, frowning and immediately regretting what I said.

"Wha-what do you mean?" He asked in a frantic.

"My, uh, my dad, he's, he's really sick and they don't know what's wrong with him. They don't know how long he'll live, either." I took a deep breath, I really didn't want to cry today.

Instead of talking, Ryan just hugged me. He didn't say a thing, just hugged me. "I'm so sorry."

I nodded, not replying to that. "Can I uh, change the subject?" I asked and he nodded. I forced a smile on my face after that. "Did we get your girlfriend out of the way long enough for you to get her the present?" I asked him.

His face quickly changed into a happier state. His eyes lit up while talking about her, and how excited he was for this surprise. But he wouldn't tell me what it was, and I hated that.

And when I told him I hated that, he just patted my head and said he'd see me later. "Go run off to Parker," I recall him laughing.

And so I did.

-----

"I forgot to tell you my surprise for you!" Parker yelled as we sat in a diner in the mall. "Because i was cut off by a doctor."

I shrugged. "The doctor was more important than you."

"Fair enough." Parker laughed. "So, can I tell you now?" He put on puppy dog eyes.

"I guess so." I shrugged, a small smile creeping on my face.

The smile on his face grew. "So Ali, I know we haven't known each other for a long time, and I really want to get to know you better." He said.

"Go on." I urged when he took a pause.

"So, how long have you wished to see snow around your birthday, again?" Parker asked, what did this have to do anything with?

"Ever since I can remember, really." I shrugged, not thinking much of it.

Parker smiled and reached into his pocket and hid whatever he was holding in his hand. "So, to get to know you better, and to see snow, I got these." He handed me two pieces of paper.

I screamed.
