As we run around the mall looking for other ways to spruce up the stage and put final touches on everything, I was also trying to avoid Parker. I didn't want anything to be awkward, or ruin our friendship.
I was on the advertising part of the group. With the talent show only a few days away, we had to get it out there for more people to sign up and actually come to the mall to watch and attend. We had a decent amount of people signed up with all different types of talent, but I had no clue how many people would actually come to the show.
"December Nineteenth! Come to the mall and watch the talent show!" I yelled out.
An older lady walked over to me. "What's the show called?" She asked.
We. Don't. Have. A. Name.
I quickly thought. Let's call it, "Wishing For Snowflakes Talent Show." I smiled.
------
"You called it the Wishing For Snowflakes Talent Show?" Jordan laughed. "Why?"
I shrugged. "We live in LA and it never snows here, so, why not wish for snow?" I said.
"Trust me, you don't want snow." Ryan interjected. Currently, Ryan, Jessie, Jordan, Tybzi, and I were sitting around a table in the food court, just talking.
"I think it's a great name." Tybzi smiles, messing with my hair.
"Dude." I groaned as he fluffed my hair. All he did was give a big, flashy smile.
Ryan got up to order something and Jessie plastered a huge smile across her face. "Jordan, what will it take for me to get you to tell me what Ryan is getting me? I still need to figure out what to get him." She sighed.
"No can do." Jordan said. "I was sworn to secrecy."
"Puh-leaseeeeee?" Jessie pleaded, batting her eyes.
Jordan looked around. "Okay so, Ryan was planning-"
"DON'T YOU DARE!" Ryan attacked Jordan.
Every one of us erupted into fits of laughter. "Chill!" Jordan yelled. "I wasn't going to tell her!"
"Whatever." Ryan rolled his eyes, and let go of Jordan. I noticed Jordan's phone light up, and I couldn't help but sneak a peak.
iMessage from: Carly ^-^
Swipe to viewI carefully tried to swipe, but it was password protected. Why was she texting him?
And again, it lit up, same message.
I'm suspicious.
I shook my head. Maybe they're just taking. No reason to be suspicious.
"Was that, Lainey?" Jessie pointed at a girl who ran past us, crying. I noticed her dirty blonde hair and the shoes she always wears.
"Looks like it. Should we go ask her what's wrong?" I asked.
"Let's go. Be back later, boys." Jessie said, standing up, and I followed.
We chased after Lainey and finally caught up to her when she sat down against a wall, where there seemed to be no one around. "Lainey?" I said carefully. She slowly looked up and we took a seat next to her, beginning to comfort her.
"What happened?" Jessie asked.
"Here she is!" I heard the familiar voice of Parker. Crap, awkwardness.
There was a guy with Parker. One I had not actually seen. "Who's this?" I asked.
"This is Julio." Parker introduced. "What's wrong Lainey?"
"Are you okay?" Julio asked her.
She shook her head. "It really stings, you know?" Lainey began.
"What stings?" I asked.
"That the guy you liked in high school doesn't even remember you." She said, taking a quick breath.
"What?" Julio said.
"Oh my god is this the guy you went to school with?" Jessie asked, I could tell she was getting mad.
Lainey nodded. "Talked, I don't know, everyday in homeroom. But I guess I just wasn't worth remembering." She shrugged.
"Wait, I know you?" Julio asked.
"You aren't making this any better for yourself." I rolled my eyes.
Jessie looked like she was about to explode. "WHAT THE HELL JULIO GONZALEZ, YOU LITTLE BITCH FOR NOT REMEMBERING LAINEY OH MY GOD GARY MUTHAFUCKING OAK WOULD BE DISAPPOINTED IN YOU!" She yelled.
"Calm down, Jessie!" Julio yelled.
"YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD HER! SHE SMILED WHEN SHE SPOKE ABOUT YOU AND HOW GREAT YOU ARE! AND YOU DON'T EVEN REMEMBER HER, THE NERVE!" Jessie continued yelling. She grabbed Lainey's hand and helped her up, and they began to walk away. Julio followed.
Parker and I locked eyes. "I should get going-"
"Ali." Parker laughed. "Why are you avoiding me?" He asked.
I shrugged, not making anymore eye contact. "I feel like you think I'm awkward and I don't want to mess with our friendship and I don't want you to hate me-"
"Why would I hate you?" He asked.
"Because after we almost kissed I was so awkward and hurrying to get back to my apartment and I just feel really bad and -"
"Calm down." Parker laughed. "I'm awkward too. I don't think what happened was awkward. Julio said he saw me, his friend, and wanted to have some fun. So he jokingly yelled no PDA and saw that you basically ran. It's not awkward." He smiled.
"I'm sorry I just feel so weird and horri-"
"Would you shut up already?" And before knew it his lips were on mine. "See, not awkward." He smiled as we pulled away.
