"Thank god you're here!" Lainey said when she opened the door to her bakery.

"Why wouldn't I be here? I promised I would help." I laughed.

"We have a problem." She told me, moving frantically to take me to the back kitchen.

"And that is?" I asked, getting worried.

"That you got here last!" She yelled and a bunch of people popped up from their hiding places to yell 'SURPRISE!'

My mouth dropped open and I smiled, seeing all of the friendly faces around the room.

"Oh, that and the cooking is going great so far!" Lainey added.

"Why are you guys all here? I thought you weren't going to be here this early, let alone even make it?" I asked.

Liam walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. "Ah, little Ali, you see, were in the Christmas spirit. And we've heard about what's been happening with your dad and wanted to surprise you to try to take some stress off of you back. Maybe we helped a little, maybe a lot, or maybe not at all, we just want to make sure you know that we're going to be by your side and support you. Especially the guy who came up with this idea." Liam smiled and I have him a hug.

"Was it Ryan?" I jokingly asked.

"Nope!" Ryan yelled.

"Jordan?" I asked again.

"Nada."

"Hmmmmm, Stacy?"

"WOULD YOU GUESS ME ALREADY!" Parker yelled from the back of the room.

"Jeffery?" I said with a smirk. I've done my research.

"Huh? Oh no, she's watched some videos." Parker hid his face.

"I needed to make sure my friends aren't murderers." I smiled sarcastically.

"Yeah, and little miss cupcake of two thousand and five, I had to make sure you weren't going to be mean." Parker smiled widely.

"Oh god, you found that?" I asked.

"With some of Carly's help, yes, we found it." Jordan smiled.

"You were so cute!" Brayden added.

"That was a horrible time in my life." I sighed, with a little laugh.

We all chuckled a little and Lainey spoke up. "Now, Bee and Stacy, I want you supervising." She said. "Parker, Brayden, and Dul, cookie decorating. Julio, Jessie, and Mitch, potatoes." Lainey went on. "Jordan, Will and Liam, stuffing . John and Mark, rolls. Ryan and Zach, can you do gravy? Mitchell and Kevin, you said you guys had your own idea so go ahead and do it. Tybzi and Ali, help me with the turkey." Lainey smiled. "One, two, three, break!"

And everyone started to work on what they were told.

As I was heading home at ten pm on a Thursday, let alone Christmas Eve, I was excited.

I was excited for tomorrow and happy with the things we were doing. I didn't even care anymore that there would be another year going by without snow on my birthday.

It was late and I wanted to get home and sleep, I get tired really easily.

But as I drove past a gas station, I noticed someone sitting outside with a sign, saying that he was homeless and wanted money. I couldn't help but notice what was sleeping on the ground next to him. A dog and a little girl.

I pulled into the gas station and got out of the car, a few dollar bills in my hand.

"Is that your daughter and dog?" I asked, gesturing to the sleeping human and pet.

He nodded. "My whole life." He didn't seem to be old, probably not even thirty.

I handed him the dollar bills. "Thank you so much." He smiled.

"Um, this might be a little weird but I wanted to tell you about it. A few friends and myself are having a holiday party at them main mall tomorrow and we're inviting some people we see out on the streets. Since I saw you, your daughter, and your dog, I really wanted to make sure you had heard about it. There's going to be free food and heating, and you're more than welcome to come." I smiled.

He returned the smile. "Thank you, we'll try to be there. I'm Charlie."

"Ali." I smiled back. "I must get going, but I hope to see you three tomorrow!" I said as I started towards my car.

I sighed as I turned the car back on and drove away, getting closer to my apartment. I just wish the world were a little nicer.

I walked into my apartment and fell on the couch, turning on some random show on the tv, and soon, I was out.
