I smiled as I walked into the hotel room for Parker and I. There were two beds and it was a fairly big room. I was surprised at how nice Parker had done, nice job.
I was exhausted and just happy to finally be here. It was already the afternoon, thanks to the plane being stupid yesterday. And then the hotel gave up our room since we missed check in time, somehow Parker has some connection and got us this at a different hotel.
So as soon as we entered the room, I dropped my stuff at the end of the bed, then proceeded to flop onto it.
Parker did the same on the bed next to me, and he started rambling about all the things he wanted to do. "Yes, oh my god calm down, we'll do everything you have planned okay I promise." I laughed.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so excited!" He said and pulled out his phone and camera. Parker pressed a button and immediately started talking. "Hey guys! We're in New York! Yay! Finally!!!" He smiled and pointed the camera at me. "Tired Ali is tired. It's been a long day as the flight had to basically take a break, then even more flying, then stupid hotels, I think she needs a nap."
"Definitely." I yawned. As if on cue, my phone began to blare my random phone chosen ringtone. "It's Jordan." I told him.
Parker shut off his camera and I picked up the phone. "Hey! We made it to New York!" I smiled into the phone.
"Yeah, that's great. Uh, I have something important to tell you." He said, sounding distracted.
"Okay...go on..." I continued.
"So this newspaper is everywhere and Carly says basically everyone reads it so I picked it up to see what it's all about and, well, there's a story about you..." Jordan continued on.
"About...?"
"It says Never hire Ali James. She may be a great decorator, but is horrible to work with! She's rude and doesn't credit anyone but herself. She worked on the mall, with a ton of people, and only gave the credit to herself. I talked to her about her job and she was on her phone, trying to talk to others while I was in a meeting with her, and kept interrupting me. It was a horrible experience and I have never been treated so rudely! I really just wanted to warn all those considering hiring Miss Ali James, because what you're betting yourself into." Jordan read the article to me.
"Wait...what the heck!" I said, quickly waking up.
"Eric Bennet." Jordan said in a monotone voice. "He said you would regret not taking his offer."
"Oh my god." I said. I couldn't believe this... I had already had plans to talk to some people about me designing for them off and on, and Carly had the idea of getting me a store in the mall. Now, it was like everything was going down the drain.
"I asked Carly to track him down to see if we can get a meeting with him. He needs to be set straight." Jordan told me.
"Jordan, no." I said, trying to process it all.
"Don't even try to talk us out of it." I heard Carly's voice. "We're very stubborn and we get things when our mind is set on it."
"I guess that's true. Ugh, why did this have to happen? It was suppose to be a nice Christmas and a nice vacation and of course the one guy who was rude to us had decided to ruin it." I was getting angrier as we kept talking. I looked up at Parker once to see him standing at the end of my bed with a huge confused face.
"Don't worry, I'll fix it." Jordan said.
"Thanks." I told him, not knowing if I should say much more. "I should get going."
"Have fun in New York, I'll talk to you when I find out more." After we said our goodbyes, we hung up, and Parker immediately asked what was going on.
After I told him he just sat down next to me and gave me a hug. "It's gonna be okay..."
"I don't know, Parker, he really wanted me to take his offer, and would do anything to get back at me." I shrugged.
"Let's go to dinner. It's our first night in New York, let's try to enjoy it at least." Parker smiled, stood up, grabbed my hand, and pulled me off the bed too.
"You make a convincing point. Let's go." I smiled.
