TOBIAS-

You never quite understand the meaning of true fear until you wake up one morning alone. I don't mean alone as in you're the only one in your bed - or house even for that matter. I mean the fealing of pure isolation when there is none to turn to.

No mother. No father. No sister. No Tris.

Truthfully; I prayed for death that morning. I thought it was the easiest way out. Run from your problems. Cower into the darkness from the eternal fear that consumed my every thought.

You can't do that.

You can't ever give up.

There's always something better. You just have to wait for it.

The waiting may suck. But waiting always does.

Believe me when I say, the future is brighter.

You may not believe me. I wouldn't blame you if I said I was talking bullshit.

But I'll promise you one thing... The longer and harder the wait, the more it's worth.

"Tris!" The word was echoing through the house the second I awoke.

She's gone, was he only thought I could process.

She knew I'd panic. She knew I'd notice.

The blonde girl had stuffed a pillow into my arms and scribbled out a note that she then left on the nightstand.

I probably looked like a madman. Every door in the house was being flung open as I rampaged through. Even the kitchen cupboards were being thoroughly searched. As if she could fit inside there, stupid.

It was only when the lock clicked that I actually stopped throwing various doors open.

Her small frame tip-toed in. A pair of red heels in her hand and a blue dress hugging her tight.

She looked at me as if I was crazy. I probably am.

"Tobias... What are you doing? It's quarter to five in the morning; the sun's not even up."

"You left me," I said. Somehow I'd found my way to her as my hands took hers in my own. I reached behind her to lock the door and carfully pried the shoes from her hands before placing them on the floor. You're so cold, I though, pulling her small frame to my chest and encompassing her in my arms to try and warm her frozen skin.

"Tobias," she sighed. "Let go."

"I'm just trying to-"

"Let go of me!" She demanded, planting her palms firmly into my chest. "I know you're just trying to help but I need space, too."

"Sorry, it's just... Where did you go?"

"Harvey's," she answered abruptly and made her way through to the kitchen.

"Oh, did you go anywhere after?"

All Tris did was continue to poor a glass of orange juice and down the entire thing. She washed it. Dried it. And put the glass back into the cupboard.

She walked around, closing each door and draw before answering. "I had to take Al back to his place. The poor asshole was pissed after two pints of beer. He forgot where his house was, and how to use a phone, and how to unlock a door. We were stood outside as he just shouted 'open' at it twenty times." She laughed softly, causing blonde ribbons to fall in her face.

"You abandoned me, to go out with Al?!"

"No. Al was just at Harvey's." She said and walked straight out the kitchen, leaving me stood there, standing in my boxers, as a nagging fealing of jealousy and rage tugged at my gut. "I'm going to bed, Tobias. See you when the sun comes out!" she called as the soft patter of feet trudged up the stairs.

I followed her, my own steps sounding clumpy and randomly timed. By the time I reached the door to my room, Tris had managed to wipe her face clean of the makeup that previously adorned her face, tied her hair up in a messy bun and strip down to nothing but a pair of blue panties.

"Shit! I'm sorry!" The words tumbled out my mouth as I retreated quickly and slammed the door shut once more.

I could hear her laughter. It echoed through the house.

"Tobias," she said, pulling the door open. "It's okay." She still wasn't wearing a top.

"I'll, um... Get you a shirt to sleep in."

"Thank you," she smiled and crawled into the bed anyway.

I pulled out an old grey top from my dresser and handed it to her before climbing in the other side. She moved with such grace - pulling the fabric down to shield the beautiful sight.

The bed shifted as she sunk down, pulling the covers up to her neck and turning away from me. "Good night," she whispered an the room fell silent.

"Did you fuck him?"

"Good night, Tobias."
