"You think Lily would like flowers?" James thought aloud as he skipped another stone over the lake. Another one of his ideas to get Lily to date him I suppose. It has been a while since he mentioned her though, he has calmed down with the whole confessing love and date plans. "Yeah nothing screams love like flowers" Sirius mutters. "I could get her lilies, like her name!" Sirius was skipping stones with him, his hair tied back again. It really did suit him. Remus and I were just watching them out of boredom while Peter was just picking at the grass again. I noticed that's something he seemed to do when he was bored. "It'd be a little funny wouldn't it? Getting Lily lilies" Peter chirped in. "What if she doesn't like lilies prongs?" I think it'd be even funnier if she didn't even like the flower.
"I feel like I should get her something, you know to apologise for how I've been over the years" He skips another stone. I watch as it sunk after the third skip. "It's not a bad idea" Remus finally came in, adding to the topic. I just looked to him and smirked. We may have had a small bet going on. We started it a couple weeks ago when we saw Lily and James studying together. We both know they'll get together eventually, it's just a matter of when. If it's by the end of this year I owe Remus a sickle, if it's by the end of seventh year then I get a sickle. We weren't overly fussed about the bet itself but it did keep us entertained. They were gonna get together eventually.
"You know what, I think I'll do it" I would love to see Lilys reaction to this. I hope he does it soon, it would definitely make this term a lot more lively. I thought sixth year was supposed to be a breeze between the fifth year exams and seventh year, but nope. It's boring and even harder then last year. So thanks school. "Hey dinners gonna be starting in an hour, should we start heading down?" Sirius glances up at us. "I think we should" While they got out of the water, we had already started walking back to the castle. James had continued to throw out ideas on what he could get Lily. It was a nice thought, but she may take it as a more romantic gesture and well... He may get hexed again. Who really knows. It'll be entertaining either way.As we made it to the courtyard I heard someone call my name. I turn to see Mary? I barely see her outside of our dorm. She's more of Lilys friend then mine, so it was odd for her to approach me. "The headmaster asked me to fetch you, him and Mcgonagall are waiting for you in his office" The headmaster? What did I do now? I hadn't caused any trouble with the boys and I have kept on top of my homework. So what was this all about? "Alright... Well thanks Mary" She only shrugged and headed in to the castle. "I guess I'll see you guys later" I waved goodbye before heading to the headmasters office. As I got closer to the tower, I could already see Mcgonagall waiting for me, looking stern as usual but with a slight uneasiness to her. What had I done that was so bad? I hadn't gotten detention all year. I've been pretty good. I quietly followed her up the stairs, expecting to be punished for something when we reached the top.
The headmaster stood in the middle of the office, his moon shaped glasses sliding off his nose a little. He seemed uneasy too. "Miss Woodwinds, I think it's best if we sit down and talk" He motions to the two chairs by his desk. "Sir, what am I in trouble for?" I ask as I take my seat. A small laugh escaped his lips, a small yet sad smile had formed on his face. "My dear, I can promise you that you are not in trouble"
"We have received some... Well upsetting news from the ministry as of this morning" He motions to a piece of black parchment on his desk."I'm sorry Elsie... But I'm afraid your uncle has been killed" What... He... He can't have been. There is no possible way, he doesn't work in the field, just a boring old office job. "But... But how? It... It can't be" I could feel something swelling up inside me, just wanting to burst and let the tears fall. "There was an attack on the ministry early this morning, five wizards including your uncle were killed trying to fight back" I couldn't process what I had just heard. How could he be gone? I had only just received a letter from him yesterday... I promised I would be down for Christmas this year. The headmaster spoke again, bringing my focus back to him. "We understand that he was your legal guardian and that there are no others that are willing to take you in" Why would they? They thought my parents were bloodtraitors, thought that Danny was a bloodtraitor... Why would I talk about a family I don't have. "So until further notice, you will be staying at Hogwarts. All of the belongings of your uncles and yourself will be packed up and sent here until we can find a home for you"
I continued to sit in silence, I didn't know what to say. He was all I had left and I lost him, I lost my family and all because of this war. "Your professor here has also notified your other teachers of this and will assist you with anything that you miss out" As much as I want to thank Dumbledore for that, I couldn't get any words out. Only tears. "I'm sorry Elsie, I truly am. He was a good man"
