"Aw Elsie, you look amazing!" Lily walked over to my side of the dorm. It seemed to be the only side with a large mirror, just my luck I guess. "Mind if I use the mirror?" She went ahead anyway and started fixing her hair into a bun. A green ribbon keeping it in place. "Here let me help with yours... You can't go with your hair like that" What was wrong with how it was? I look into the mirror. My hair was sitting just under my waist and was scruffed up. Some strands sticking up in odd placed. "Why not?" She just laughs and reaches for her wand. "It's a formal event, you can't just waltz in all scruffy" She waves the light toned wand and mutters a charm of some sort. My hair seemed to itself now, strands would tuck them selves in and curl slightly. One strand kept getting in the way though, tickling my nose. "Here, this will keep it out of the way" She clipped my hair back with a pin. "See all neat and formal!"
"You know for a bookworm you're really into this looking pretty thing" I grab my wand and tuck into the pocket of my dress. "Well looking presentable is important you know" She brushed her hands over the crinkles on her emerald coloured dress. The colour brought out her eyes, it suited her perfectly. We were like a Christmas duo, red and green. "I'm sure the boys are already at the party" Lily scoffed. "I'm sure they are looking for prey" She states, though it was possible with Sirius, James only had eyes for Lily. "I doubt it Lily, James is only interested in you" Her cheeks flushed a light pink, surely the great Lily Evans was blushing over James Potter? I thought this day would never come. "You wish Elsie"
The party was supposed to be in Slughorns office. I wasn't expecting much decorations from him but I was surprised. The walls were draped in red and green hangings, a Christmas tree was decorated with the same colour scheme, there were even little house elves wandering around with food platters. "Well don't we match the decor..." I mutter. We looked around the room to see older wizards smoking pipes in the corner, a few students hanging around the buffet and that's where James and Sirius were. Both looked really bored with the party, their eyes searching for something to do. James had a white dress shirt on with a black bowtie, SIrius on the other hand seemed much more dressed for the occasion. He wore a crimson shirt that was covered in a dark vest, his tie was neatly tucked under it too. "James! Sirius!" I dragged Lily over to them. Their attention never leaving us, they seemed stuck in place. "What are you staring at Potter?"
"The love of my life" He muttered but I still heard it, he was in awe. There was no doubt that he was definitely love struck. "So enjoying the party so far?" I asked them. "Uh... Yeah, yeah it's been alright" Sirius speaks up, I couldn't help but notice the slight redness in his face. "Hey Vixy, wheres your date? I thought you had one?" James searched the room, wondering who I was here with. "She's standing right next to me" We all just stood in silence, though it didn't last long with James being dramatic and all. "How could you?! You have betrayed me Vixen! I trusted you!" While he ranted on and on about how broken he felt, Sirius stared in disbelief. "Well James I'm sure you'll live"
He only huffed in response. "What about you Black? Found some poor girl to prey upon?" He stared at Lily, startled by her comment. "No, I only planned on asking Vixy here... But unfortunately she was taken" It was then, after a moment of silence, that James had taken Sirius and gone elsewhere. Too 'upset' to be around me or the love of his life. With that, I decided it was time for food. It looked delicious. "Hey do you mind if I go off for a bit? I'd like to talk speak with that wizard over there" The redhead points towards an older looking wizard, his dress robes suggesting he was in a high position with the ministry. Of course she would take this opportune moment. "It's alright by me, goodluck!" She smiles and heads towards the old wizard. I stayed around the buffet for a good fifteen minutes before the boys returned to me.
"Found any dates yet boys?" They both scoffed. "Not for me Vixy, I only have my eyes set on Lily... But someone" He glares at me. "Is with her instead" I laughed quietly, it was really funny seeing how devastated he was. He'll be over it in a few days, a week tops. "I'm having just as much fun as you are Prongs" He sighs and wanders off, probably to see if he can try and talk to Lily, or to cause trouble. This left me with Sirius. "Evening Padfoot" The atmosphere between us seemed awkward, well at least he seemed awkward. "Evening" We stood there a while longer, just watching everyone socialise and have fun. Though it didn't seem all that fun, there wasn't even any dancing. Can't party without a bit of dancing. "Hey would you like to get out of here for a bit?" Sirius suggests, pointing towards the exit. "What about Prongs? and won't we get caught?"
We both look over to the old wizard from before, Prongs was trying his very best to impress them and Lily. She looked as if she was about to burst out with laughter and that poor man looked as dull as ever. When I look back to Sirius I see James' cloak in his hands. "He'll be fine, lets go" Without warning he grabs my wrist and leads me outside and down a few corridors. "Now we gotta be careful alright?" He lead me into a broom closet, funnily enough there was a large window there. Sirius opened the window and climbed onto the roof. He held out his hand and helped me out. Although it was chilly, the view was brilliant. It was peaceful up here with him. It's been so long since we had been alone together.

"And Minnie was so mad she gave us detention all weekend!" I laughed, she always disliked the boys mischief behavior but something tells me she is impressed with their work. The boys are nearly top of their class despite all the trouble they cause. "So that explains why you two vanished, Wormy was so worried for you" His laughter died down, turning into a comfortable silence. I gazed up at the stars, looking for constellations. I wonder if he knew any. "Hey Sirius do you-" I was cut off with the surprise of his lips on mine. Sirius Black was kissing me? His lips felt so soft but he stopped. When he pulled back I could see his face turn red. "I'm sorry... I shouldn't have... I just, I didn't know how to say it" I had no words, I didn't know how to react. "Elsie... I love you, you don't need to say it back bu" I pressed my lips back onto his only pulling back after a moment.
"I love you too"
