EPILOGUE
*Few months after the grand confession*
:::Jung household - Living room:::
“Sica...I’ve loved you since...Nah. Too cheesy...” Sooyoung shook her head before trying again as she paced around the room. “Yah Sica-chu! You better say-...Okay, that’s too intense...Hmm....So Jessica, we’ve been dating for how many...Darn it! How the hell am I supposed to-!”
“Something bothering you Sooyoung?”
Jumping at least a foot in the air, Sooyoung turned around to see Jessica’s dad looking at her in puzzlement. Turning pink at being caught cursing by her girlfriend’s father, Sooyoung decided to change the topic.
“Uncle! Thank you for inviting all of us for lunch today!”
“No need to act so shy. You know you’ve been part of this family ever since.” Mr. Jung patted Sooyoung’s shoulder fondly.
Noticing Sooyoung’s pale complexion and muted silence, the older man chuckled in amusement, “Why so nervous? Last time you were that jittery was the day you kissed my daughter out of the blue, destroying nearly 2 decades’ worth of friendship.”
“You saw that?!?” Sooyoung said in shock.
“Well with all your other friends squealing, it’s hard not to.” Mr. Jung said sternly peering at Sooyoung through his reading glasses. “And honestly speaking, it’s quite....a different experience seeing one’s eldest daughter locking lips with her best friend under their play tree.”
“I’m really sorry sir!” Sooyoung said bowing in apology at Mr. Jung who was trying to keep his laughter at bay.
“And about time too!” Mr. Jung added, finally laughing heartily, more so at Sooyoung’s red cheeks.
Just then, Jessica peered through the front door, startled to see Sooyoung bowing and her father laughing heartily. Tutting in disapproval, she pulled her girlfriend while turning to her dad, “Bully appa.”
“I was just having a little fun here.” Mr. Jung shrugged, still chuckling and yet turning to Sooyoung in apology, “Sorry, couldn’t help it.”
“That was a bad joke Uncle.” Sooyoung said shaking her head but managed a shy smile.
“You know better than to tease her endlessly.” Jessica said lightly smacking her chuckling father’s shoulder.
Turning to Sooyoung, Jessica pouted, “You told me we’re going to play chess today.”
“You were playing with Kyungsan with Taeyeon and Tiffany so I decided to take a nap.”
“Yah! I’m the one who should be sleeping!” Jessica giggled, pulling Sooyoung outside. “Come on! I told Tiffany you could beat me in 20 minutes now instead of 15.
“Choi Sooyoung!” Sooyoung turned around at the sound of her name and saw Jessica’s dad smirking at her, a twinkle in his eyes. “Make it good! Hwaiting!”
“Make what good?” Jessica asked in confusion.
“I have no idea what he’s talking about.” Sooyoung said seriously, throwing Mr. Jung a warning look who just brushed it off and sat down to watch TV still chuckling.
:::At the kitchen:::Yuri’s face is reflected at the polished metal of the oven as she looked at the cookies that Krystal had tried to make after declaring that she finally knows how to follow a recipe. Turning at the younger Jung who was nervously fiddling with her fingers, she smiled, “I think they’re ready.”
