The Librarian has called for me to show up at her office.
"Ok Librarian, I'm here now what do you want to talk about."
"I want to tell you about why the Didact is so dangerous." She says getting straight to what I wanted.
"Ok so what is it."
"He has the ability to control all the machines here on Requiem, and when he is released he will take them all. He plans on using this one called the composer."
"What is the composer?" I ask afraid of the answer.
"The composer was something we built to make Forerunner immortal. Like uploading our systems, I used it to make what I am currently. He plans on using it against the human race. He plans on killing every human being in the world. That's where you come in."
"What do you expect us to do?" I ask.
"I expect John to kill him. But he must come and see me to do that, after he releases the Didact come see me. I will make him invincible to the composer so when the Didact uses it John will survive." She explains.
"Can't we just stop him from using it at all?" I ask thinking this would be better.
"You can try, I've run the simulations. I don't see any way you can destroy the composer before he fires it."
"How do we stop him?"
"That I cannot tell you. All I know is you can find a way."
"This will all be happening two years from now. I won't be at my best." I explain to her.
"I know how rampancy works Cortana, and trust me. Your rampancy will help defeat the Didact."
"How could it be of any help?" I ask confused.
"For one, John will do anything to save you, he will fight harder than ever. Also you will take more risks, which is exactly what you need to kill him."
"So you expect me to allow myself to die so we can win? What if there's a way out of rampancy?" I ask slightly angry.
"There may be a way out of rampancy, but I wouldn't bet on it. The chances of getting to the person you need are very low"
Halsey. Dr. Halsey. Why didn't I think of that? I was created using a piece of her brain. If we can get to her we can do it again. I can be reborn, start over again. I need to think about this. Find out if I truly do have a chance at living.
