Cortana: The Lost Story

I still can't figure out how it's true. Humans have searched the galaxy for hundreds of years. Passed by millions of planets. Studied so many of their structures. There has been no sign of them still being alive. Every sign pointed to their death. The flood killing each and every last one of them. Even 343 guilty spark didn't know any of his creators survived. But somehow through all our searching we missed them. They somehow avoided us. Until now. I now have definitive proof they aren't dead. The forerunners after hundreds of years of being missing are still alive. I am the first to discover this, and I could be the last. I could change the fate of all humanity. All we'd have to do is get to the Librarian. We just need a little bit of luck, someone needs to find us and we can escape. But luck is not a thing I have a lot of right now. It's hard to bet everything on luck, on a chance, and a very low one at that. But this is great for us, we now have a way to survive. This Librarian can help us, maybe she's even been watching us this entire time. All I have to do is hope the sites don't find her, or at least she turns them away. Hopefully they don't kill her after that. I just have to hope the Librarian has our side on this. She may be our only real chance at surviving. Let's just hope we can make it. That John, can make it. She's a few hundred kilometres away. But I just realized something... She's a few hundred kilometres in the other direction. I have to divert this ship the other way. But how am I supposed to do that? The only way is an explosion. If it's large enough I can blast us straight towards Requiem and hopefully we can float there in time. Before I am gone. I can create an explosion in the engine. It's not like this ship is gonna need it any time soon. It should be just enough to send us the other way. I can do this, and then I have to hope I'm still there when John wakes up. That all of me is still there. Not whatever is left after rampancy hits. I still have about 3 years in me. I think that will be enough, but it'll be close.
