CHAPTER 12
I tried to ignore the TV; it wasn’t on when I was in the dorm room. When we were in the lounge I made a bee line for the stairs not wanting to hear one word of what was happening outside the school. I couldn’t completely ignore it, people talked, kids were going home in the bucket load. So, yeah, I was worried still.
It was Friday morning and I was too busy fretting to do any work. As it was Friday the lessons were based on our ECs, so I was now sitting at my desk trying to draw when all I could focus on was whether the spot I was spitting would be ripped in three in a few days.
The radio was giving a scatty signal but it was still able to crackle the songs of the eighties through the sound system. I was trying to block out the noise, I really was but the warbling was brain rubbing which with the stress of my thoughts was slowly leading to a migraine.
I was staring down at the lily that was half sketched onto my page when the girl next to me shoved herself away from the paint covered, battered-to-death desk. Looking up I watched as the brunette skipped over to the small radio and turning the dial made the warbling that was coming to a close project the noise. She started bouncing her head to the atrocious song, humming along as she washed her brushes that she had coated in the brightest oranges and corals. Watching her made me feel okay, she made me forget as I watched her happiness.
When the music ended the music for the news bulletin started playing. Gulping I tried to block out the noise but…
“A tropical storm warning has been issued to most of the east coastline,” everything around me seemed to stop as everyone’s heads snapped towards the little radio. Unknowing the affect he seemed to be causing, the news reporter carried on; “Hurricane Sandy now affects the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and New England. The issue was also given to Florida yesterday and they believe that Sandy may affect the south east of Canada.”
I shoved my seat back and grabbing my stuff went over to my teacher. He seemed to be in little shock to see me so shaken and happily made a note for me to go to the toilets and spend as much time there as I needed to calm myself down.
Instead of going left, towards the toilets I went right and walking through the maze that is the school corridors, I opened the door and was greeted by the cold, October air. I slipped my coat on and started the fifteen minute trek to the football field where Noah was doing practise for tonight’s game. Max’s team were nearby as well, doing their practice but as I wasn’t sure where their practice field was Noah was my best bet.
I just hoped that arsehole Cartwright wasn’t there.

“You back already, Thomlinson?” Cartwright boomed across the field as I made my way across the muddy swamp. “I knew you couldn’t resist me,” I rolled my eyes staying silent, too scared to try any war talk. “Cat got your tongue?!” I glared across at him as I stepped over a particularly muddy spot.
“Jodi?” I looked up at Noah’s voice. “What are you doing here?” he was covered in mud, all over his kit and his face and even from this distance I can see it was caked in his hair. He was making his way towards me, not caring where he stood unlike me who was picking where my feet went with great intensity.

Toothpaste Kisses
Teen FictionJodi is snappy, sardonic and so very British. That's probably how she ended up living with two boys, and probably how she ended kissing one of them in a very messy manner. The question is; will she regret it or will the unlikely pair find love? So...
