CHAPTER 9
“Noah!” I screeched as a bottle of water was emptied on top of me. “I said five more minutes,” I whimpered as I rolled over in my now wet bed. There was a deep rumble of a laugh behind me and before I could protest I was being turned onto my back again and was being picked up. “NOAH!” I yelped and clung to his school shirt. “Put me down now, you complete and utter arsehole!” obviously he didn’t do that so I started writhing in his arms. I spotted Max standing in the short hall holding the bathroom door open with a mischievous grin on his face. Anger swept through me as Noah carried me into the bathroom. “Davis, you’d better run when I sort this A-hole out!” Max shook his head like that should be the last thing on my mind.
And it should have been. Noah dumped me on the floor of the shower and then turned it on. I screamed as the cold water hit me and then ran down, from the roots and then running down my hair, down my neck and then down the back of my top. I went at him but he slammed the door shut so I head-butted the glass door. I growled and glared at him as the condensation started to build up. He grinned back happily as he grabbed hair wax and ran some through the front of his hair. “You’re clothes are getting wet.”
“No shit Sherlock,” I sneered through gritted teeth.
“You should take them off,” he teased.
“Piss off Poirot.”
“What?” he asked in confusion. Jesus, didn’t American’s watch British murder series, we watch CSI they should watch our shows!
“You heard me!” I yelped slamming a hand on the glass. Noah turned and grinned at me, showing of his crystal white teeth. This was going too far. Yes, I had also been pranking him and yes, they may have gone a little too far, but not this far. I had poured orangeade on his lap in school and got him soaked on his crotch but I had not shoved him into an indoor downpour. We had been at each other’s throats the past three weeks since I moved in and I don’t know how Max or the people either side of us hadn’t gone mental from the screaming, yelling and continuous profanities bawled out.
“Make me, baby,” he spat into the sink and I narrowed my eyes at him. An idea came to mind and with a slow smile I grabbed the handle of the shower and throwing myself out propelled myself at him wrapping my arms tightly around his waist. “JODI!” he yelled and tried to pull away. I just held on tighter making him swear loudly. From the doorway Max was laughing his head off. “Davis, get your ass in here and get her off me!” Max shook his head and walked away from the door still chuckling. “DAVIS!” he yelled making me laugh.
When my hysteria died down I let go of him and we stared at each other. I had done a good job; Noah’s shirt clung tight to his muscular body and it was transparent in places. He was soaked. I on the other hand looked like I’d had a shower in my clothes. Oh wait, I had. Noah bit his bottom lip trying to not laugh at the mess he had caused.
“Oi, Maxie,” I yelled making Noah flinch at how loudly I yelled, I smirked his way at that reaction. “What time’s it?”
There was silence and then a muffled. “Half seven.”
“Shit,” Noah whispered and I whirled going back into the shower still in my PJs. “So,” Noah turned back to me leaning against the door frame. “Have I caused a new showering craze?”
“Hardly,” I grinned back at him. I dropped my cheeks. “Get out,” he saluted and then he was gone closing the door behind him. I walked across the floor making wet footprints as I went and locked the latch which had been installed the first Monday I moved in here. I stripped and got into the shower turning up the speed and the heat and once my hair was soaked through – it didn’t take long – started the usual washing.
