Chapter 9

It's been a week since I went on a "date" with Davi. Time really flies when you're having fun. Fun? Well, what's fun is that after that date my brother has been extra curious about Davi. He was asking me back to back questions kung ano raw ang nangyari at bakit nauwing si Davi ang kasama ko manood ng cine and not Ash and Lex. 

Speaking of which, I felt that there was something wrong so I confronted them. The reasoning why they ditched me was valid, may commitments nga si Ash but other than that, they were acting weird. 

"So spill it out, Ash."

She was avoiding my gaze and playing with her fingertips. Nakaupo lang si Lex sa tabi nya while biting her lower lip. 

"I know you're hiding something so what is it?"

Ash let out a big sigh before looking at me. 

"Hindi kami komportable na nasa paligid si Senri. He's like a bomb waiting to just explode and I don't want to be there when it happen."

I can't help but feel guilty with her explanation. Of course, it's valid. Kahit naman ako ay hindi kampante noong una sa presensya ni Davi. His presence in the academy feels like distorting the order and norm that we are used on having. 

"That's why Lex and I talked and made some plans."

I tilted my head and just stared at her waiting for her to continue. 

"OPLAN: Palayuin si Senri sayo. If we can't get rid of him and we are forced to co-exist, then at least may distansya man lang. We can exist separately and hindi laging magkasama. I'm worried he might notice something if he's always too close." 

She has a point. Hindi bobo si Davi, sooner or later baka may mapansin na syang kakaiba. May it be sa presence or scent naming tatlo. It's never too bad to be safe. I have to prioritize everyone's safety. 

"You're right. I was only assigned to help him get comfortable sa academy at siguro panahon na for him to be independent." 

Their shoulders relaxed when they heard me. It's my responsibility to maintain peace. That's my job. That's who I am. 

Why does my chest feel heavy just thinking about distancing myself from him?

No, Zyraine. Get a grip! This is how it's supposed to be. 

"Thank you for understanding us, Zy. We only want the best for everyone."

I nodded and gave them a tight smile. Maintain the order. That's the goal. 

"I know and that's what we will do. For now, umuwi muna tayo bago dumilim sa labas."

They quickly glanced at each other before standing up. I can still feel that they are hiding something from me but maybe hindi pa lang sila handa na mag sabi. I'll let it pass for now but if it persist, I'll find out by myself. 

We're supposed to have geometry as our last subject but the professor called in sick today so they gave us a take home activities. Dumiretso ako sa parking lot ng mahagip ng mata ko si Davi na may kausap na babae. Hindi familiar yung babae so she's not a student here. 

I went inside the car and eavesdropped on their conversation. Malayo sila sakin pero hindi ako nahihirapang makinig sa usapan nila. 

"What are you doing here Victoria?"

Davi asked and there's coldness and threat in his voice. 

"The king sent me to summon you to the kingdom, Prince Senri."
