I let my face fall directly onto my locker as a groan of emotional pain emitted my lips. All I could hear was Harry chuckling beside me as I mentally rolled my eyes; remind me why we're friends again?
"Oh poor baby." He patted my head in mock as I waved him away.
"Shut up."
So after the teacher found out I hadn't done my homework today, I had landed myself within an afterschool detention. I only have to stay back half an hour but the catch is that I can't do anything. Personally I think it's stupid; if you're going to punish me for something I didn't do, then why can't I use that time to actually finish it?
"Well I'll be here until four. Got practice you know." Lifting my face, I hummed as Harry smiled down at me like I was a cute little kitten that was making a fool out of myself. "Come get me and I'll drop you home."
"Mum doesn't know that I won't be home on time though." She thinks I'll be home ten minutes after I finish school and it sucks because I know I'll get a lecture for not getting home on time, or for gaining a detention for not doing my homework. It's a lose, lose situation.
"Let me do the talking. I know she'll come round." I rolled my eyes and smiled at the boy as he returned the gesture. Trust Harry to sweet talk my mother into letting me off the hook. I don't know if it's because he's a good friend or because he's trying to talk up my mum. Shaking the thought off, I turned with a final goodbye to Harry.
Detention wasn't that far; just beside the administration office actually. Right beside the side gates where not only would they restrict us thirty minutes of our freedom but tease us with the outside world just outside the window.
I step into the room to see a handful of people already in here. I've been in here a few times and it seems that the same people are always getting detention.
Coming to the side of the classroom, I took a seat and pulled out my phone while I waited for the supervisor to turn up. It's not like I wanted him to, but he calls when we start detention even when he's ten minutes late. Yeah, it freaking sucks. That's why I try to avoid it at all costs.
"Hey, (Y/N) right?" Looking over, I spotted the familiar jersey that Harry had worn today by another one of his team members.
"That's me." Putting the phone away, the boy smiled and pulled up a chair beside me before holding his hand out.
"Louis." I shook his hand in acceptance to his greeting as he leant a casual elbow on the table. "So you're Harry's girl huh?" My eyes widened at the bold accusation though Louis only held the same curious face he asked with.
"I am not Harry's girl." My tone must have been obvious to irritation as Louis smirked cheekily at me.
"Well that's what the whole team thinks."
"Well maybe a few more hits to the head with those footballs of yours will help you to stop thinking that." Without warning, Louis burst out laughing causing a few heads to turn and look over at us. My eyebrow rose in confusion as I turned to the careful boy, my curiosity getting the best of me. "You're not offended by my offensive remark?"
Louis ran a hand through his hair and scoffed. "Why would I be offended? You're harmless." Finding my mouth twitch up in a smile, I relaxed back into my chair. This guy was pretty light-hearted; I liked that.
"Oh no, here comes trouble." His teasing had me look over to the entrance of the room to find my stupid crush step in. I swallowed hard and tried recomposing myself so I didn't look like an idiot. "Niall!" Louis waved him over as I looked down and pulled my phone out; mentally stabbing Louis for unintentionally trying to embarrass me.
Niall smiled and made his way over to us, letting his bag drop beside the desk as he pulled a chair over with his foot.
"What're ya here for?" Niall's accent was undoubtedly thicker today.
"I drew a dick on the board. Ms Tramp saw and gave me detention." I smiled to myself and held back laughs. Ms Tramp –properly know as Mrs Trunston- was a really strict teacher. She followed each school rule seriously and everyone naturally found themselves to hate her. I didn't have her thank god, so I didn't have to tolerate her at all this year. "What about you?"
"I accidentally hit the gymnasium teacher in the face."
"What?!" Louis burst out laughing again as I snuck a glance to see Niall chuckle embarrassingly at himself.
"We were playing dodge ball and she got in the way. Not my fault." He defended lifting his hands up and glancing over at me. My toes curled in their shoes as I tensed on the spot. He looked at me. He acknowledged my existence for a split second. Shit I'm acting like I'm about how a meltdown.
"What about you (Y/N)?" Louis caught my attention again as he leant one of his feet up to the side of my chair. I was going to push it off but Niall was right there. And I couldn't let him see me act like a dickhead in front of him.
"I-I didn't do my homework." The silence between the two was cut off as they both burst out laughing. I felt my face radiate heat as I let it slam down onto the desk. Wrong choice. "Ah shit!" I hissed and leant back in my chair as my hands held my forehead. This only spurred Louis on to laugh even harder until he found himself rolling around on the floor.
Pouting at him, I looked over to see Niall chuckling behind his hand before recomposing himself to smile at me.
Shit. He smiled at me. He actually bloody smiled at me.
"Alright!" The teacher made his grand entrance as Niall turned his attention back to the front of the classroom and away from me. Dammit.
