Third Person POV

It was the last day of 10th grade, and Matthew looked surprised as she saw Celestia, sitting on the school bench, sweating, with a big smile on her face.

Sure, she should be happy, because she managed to run nine laps around the field in five minutes, but Matthew felt anger. How can she be so happy without him?

An equally sweating Vanessa ran towards him, panting. "What is it?" She asked.

"Hold my hand." Matthew ordered forcefully. Vanessa tilted her head to the side, confused. "Wait, what? Why? I thought we're over."

He glared at her. "Just follow my lead."

They went, hand in hand, towards Celestia, and sat beside her.

"I want to talk to you." Matthew said to Celestia, with no expression on his face. Celestia took out a bottle of water and fanned herself. "Yeah, sure. What is it?" She asked, before drinking.

"Whatever happened between us, let's just pretend it didn't exist." Celestia gasped a little, but turned away, forbidding him to see her choke on her drink.

"Whatever happened between you and I were just like pure, white water. It has no taste. No sweetness on the taste buds. It felt like nothing." Celestia's heart felt like it had been stabbed by a thousand knives.

She forbid him to see the tears welling in her eyes. "Sure." She said, clutching her drink and popping the cap back on.

"And, focus on Vanessa and I." Vanessa looked at Matthew, outraged.

"We're like red wine. So tasty, it would be so memorable. With pure water and red wine compared together, the pure water feels nothing."

A tear slipped down Celestia's cheek.

Did she really mean nothing?

"Really?" Celestia asked and took a large gulp of her water.

"Why doesn't this pure white water feel empty to me?" She asked realistically, her voice strong, but not her heart.

"Why does the pure, white water taste so bitter?" She asked, clearly hurt by Matthew's words. She felt betrayed, broken.

Inside, Vanessa actually felt flattered, but she knew it was cruel.

Matthew too, regretted what he said. What Celestia just said, about the water being 'bitter' meant their past relationship.

"Celestia-" and without any other word, Celestia jogged on the tracks, leaving the two. She wiped the tears from her eyes and looked straight forward.

"If I mean nothing to him," she panted, wiping off sweat from her forehead. "He means nothing to me."

Celestia ignored Matthew's calls, but changed her mind.

Let's get him a taste of his own medicine.

"Wait a sec!" She called out to him, smiling brightly, all the pain gone, hidden in the deepest, darkest parts of her heart.

Matthew turned to her, confused by her smile. "What?"

"I just realized, the pure water actually tastes sweet." He narrowed his eyes.

"If you didn't cheat on me, I would never had reconciled with my boyfriend, he would never had dated me, I would never gotten into such a beautiful relationship like this, and I would have been sadder. Thanks so much! The bitterness was only on the tip of my tongue, but then its as sweet as sugar!"

She said with a sugary, enthusiastic voice. "Thanks a bunch, Matthew!" Before running away, and she felt something.

Everything she just said was a lie.

Well, of course she was happy to be inside another relationship, but then she felt it. What missing in her kiss.

It was because, Christopher wasn't Matthew.

Fuck that, Celestia, she thought to herself.

Just give it some time! I'll get over him!

Tossing her hair, Celestia gained newfound confidence as Matthew stared at her with a dropped-open jaw.

She had managed to do what he just did to her.

Hurt him.

But somehow, the hurt resurfaced.

The pure water means nothing.

No taste. No sweetness on the taste buds. It felt like nothing.

Let's just pretend it didn't exist.

Nothing, meant nothing, meant nothing, meant nothing.

A small, weak sob escaped Celestia's mouth.

Meant nothing, meant nothing, meant nothing, meant nothing, meant nothing.

She stopped running. She panted and held her knees, tired. And hurt. The words were carved to her heart by knives.

Nothing.

Her eyes almost became a waterfall if she had not composed herself.

She didn't concentrate on running. All she heard was his voice.

"And, focus on Vanessa and I."

"We're like red wine. So tasty, it would be so memorable. With pure water and red wine compared together, the pure water feels nothing."

"Why doesn't this pure white water feel empty to me?"

"Why does the pure, white water taste so bitter?"

All that she knew next, she screamed. Next, she was on the ground. Next, she was writhing in pain.

And everyone was surrounding her, Dominique excluded. She went to the hospital wing because she fell while running the third lap.

"What happened?" Joanne asked frantically, panicking instantly.

Celestia's legs and elbow were bleeding, her cheeks were bruised with blood, and her left stomach was bruised.

"We have to get you to the hospital wing." Their teacher, Sir Raylen, said.

"Matthew, carry her." He ordered, and Matthew reluctantly nodded. But, with the power left in her, Celestia shoved his hand away. "I can walk by myself!" She snapped, and dared herself to stand up.

She limped towards the hospital wing, and when she did, she was greeted by Dominique's shocked gasp.

"What the hell happened to you, Cel?" She asked, her own knee being wrapped by bandages. The nurse gasped too, when she looked at Celestia.

"My good Lord! Lay down, now." She said. "Nurse Bianca!" She called.

Nurse Bianca was a pretty girl, with a very thin frame, long, jet black hair and warm green eyes.

"God! Come on, let's clean you up." Nurse Bianca said hurriedly, while getting medicine. "Does it hurt much?" Dominique asked, as she winced. The alcohol must have been working on her wound.

Celestia tried to feel any pain, but she didn't. The only pain she felt was Matthew's words. Placing a brave smile, she said,

"No."
