Celestia POV

Once again I paced across the waiting room. Christopher was right beside me, whispering soothing words, but I couldn't seem to focus. Vanessa was crying.

Wildly.

"What if he dies?" I asked, beginning to hyperventilate. "He won't," he assured me.

A nurse immediately came towards us, and the three of us stood straighter, and Vanessa wiped her tears away. I took a deep breath to control my breathing.

"Are any of you Mr. Jones' family?" She asked skeptically.

"I'm his ex!" Vanessa snapped, and I glanced at her, shocked. Weren't they still dating? When did they break up?

"I'm his.." I didn't know what to say. Ex? That'll make him seem like a playboy.

But to say I'm only a friend hurts. Meh, whatever.

"I'm his friend." I said firmly, and gave her a small nod. She seemed pleased and nodded back. "I'm her boyfriend," Chris said, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Okay, where is his family?" She asked, an eyebrow raised. "They're not in Hawaii. We're just here for a vacation." I explained.

"Okay," she said, jotting something on her clipboard.

"He's not awake yet, but he's in quite stable conditions." Vanessa gave out a relieved breath, but I wasn't convinced.
"What do you mean by 'quite stable'?" I asked suspiciously, and she turned to me.

"Observant." She nodded respectfully at me. "It means, he's not exactly stable. We're still working on his waking up opportunity."

Vanessa burst out crying again, while a sharp, cold pang hit my heart. "So, will he ever wake up?" I asked nervously.

She gave me a reassuring glance. "We will try our best." Giving us all a smile, she walked away.

"I need to go for a walk." I said. "Alone." Heading down, I smiled the tiniest bit my lips could force and sat on a bench.
Flashback.

I was angry. I was angry. "GO! GO! GO!" Vanessa cheered, as I tried my best to run. "Weakling," I heard someone snort. Matthew was hiding his smirk.

I was angry. I was angry. I sprinted across the field, and I can feel his eyes on me.

I was halfway, and Joanne yelled, "five more minutes, eighteen laps!"

That built in some motivation.

I felt tired, my stomach hurts, I was burning.

But, Matthew leaned in and kissed Charlotte's cheek, and that made the fire in me burn even higher.
