"Stop." You try to push your childhood best friend Wonpil- who you've had feelings for-off of you.
"What do you mean 'stop'?" He mumbles, still trying to kiss you.
"Wonpil! Hajima!" You shout as tears start to well up in your eyes.
"I'm not her! I will never be your ex!" You sob, finally managing to shove him off of you. You stand up, angrily wiping tears from your eyes. "Saranghae! But all you see in me, is her!" You choke, clenching your fists.
"(Y/n)..." He breathes. "Mian, I just thought-"
"That what?" You interrupt. "That since I look like her, you can kiss me and pretend that I'm her?!" You inhale sharply before continuing. "I've loved you longer than she has, and yet you still chose her. I've comforted you many times, even before you met her. And you. Still. Chose. Her." You sob, taking deep, gasping breaths.
"Mianhae." He whispers. "I hope we can-"
"'Still be friends', right?" You finish the sentence bitterly. "Not going to happen. Goodbye."
You storm out of his apartment, trying to control the tears that are flowing freely down your cheeks.
"(Y/n)?" You hear a familiar voice ask hesitantly.
"N-ne?" You turn around while sniffling.
"It's me Sungjin, remember?" You look up into his warm eyes that look so much like Wonpil's, that's enough to make you burst into tears again.
He doesn't try to make you stop crying, instead he wraps you in his arms and gently strokes your back while murmuring that it's okay to cry.
Once you're finally able to talk, he leads you back to his apartment for some tea.
"Here." He hands you a steaming mug, which you gladly accept.
"Gomawo." You murmur softly, taking small sips that immediately warm you up.
"Do you want to tell me what's wrong?" He asks gently, like if he speaks even a little bit louder that a whisper, you'll burst into tears again.
"Wonpil," you start, feeling the tears starting to well back up in your eyes. You swallow hard before continuing. "He tried to kiss me, and the only reason I know he tried, was because I look like his ex." You explain, staring into your tea like it will magically give you an answer to your problem.
"You love him, don't you?" Sungjin says, sounding slightly sad and angry.
"I'm moving on... I have to." You reply softly.
Sungjin grabs your hand. "(Y/n), look at me." He states urgently.
You slowly look up before reluctantly meeting his gaze.
"I will always be here for you. Okay?"
You nod hesitantly and he bites his lip, looking like he's having an internal battle with himself.
He stands up abruptly and leans across the table before gently placing his lips on your forehead. "There are other people out there." He murmurs before pulling away and sitting back down.
You sit completely still, in total shock because of what Sungjin just did.
"Sungjin, I-" you start.
"I can wait. It's hard, I've been there. But I can wait for you to get over him... And to love me, maybe." He whispers, staring at the table separating the two of you, like it's its fault for keeping you apart from each other.
"Mian." You reply, unable to think of a better response.
"It's not your fault and besides, Wonpil was here first. I'll wait my turn." He looks up and smiles. "But only if you want me to."
"Ne." You reply without any hesitation.
He reaches across the table and you react by grabbing his hand. He smiles down at your intertwined hands and you take a breath. "Kamsahamnida." You murmur.
"Aniyo, kamsahamnida. Now I can win your heart." He replies quietly, squeezing your hand gently.
