< Chapter 84: The 2 Minute Talk >
♥ Jamie's POV: ♥
I have to admit, I was kinda nervous when I invited Nathan inside, shutting the door behind him and welcoming him in. I knew one thing, and that was that Ryan is definitely going to completely freak out when he sees Nathan in here.
“Jamie, if you’re hungry I could—” Ryan stopped mid-sentence as he spotted Nathan. He was on his way over to me but froze in place, his jaw dropping.
“Wait a second… What the fuck is he doing here?” he gritted his teeth. I bit on my bottom lip.
“Long story, but he says he wants to talk. I’m giving him 2 minutes, so it shouldn’t take long,” I said, grabbing Nathan by the wrist and dragging him upstairs.
“Jamie,” Ryan called out to me and I stopped, turning around. “Don’t do this. You know his plan.”
Nathan interrupted, “I don’t have a plan! I just want to talk!”
“About what?” Ryan crossed his arms.
“Would you let me explain it to her first? Give us a moment, bro,” he said.
Ryan frowned, giving him a look. “Don’t call me that.”
“Sorry, I didn’t really mean to b–”
“–We’re going now,” I cut in, dragging Nathan again. Ryan watched as we disappeared up the stairs and Nathan followed me into one of the guest rooms. We stepped inside and closed the door, then I took a seat at the side of the bed and lightly dropped my crutches to the ground below me.
“What exactly happened to you?” he asked, referring to my cast. He took a seat next to me as I sucked in a breath of air.
“I broke my ankle,” I replied.
He rolled his eyes. “I can tell. I meant to say, how did you break it?”
I paused, folding my hands together. “Nathan, we’re here to talk about why you’re here, not my injuries.”
“I’m just concerned,” he innocently replied.
“Thanks, but let’s get to the point. You have 2 minutes,” I looked at the clock, “starting now.”
“Okay,” he prepared himself. “I got myself a small little job back at lower London, Ontario. I even got myself a little place to live, but I always felt like something was missing. I did a lot of thinking, Jamie… A lot. I realized it’s you who I miss terribly. I know, in the past, I messed up big time. But I thought everyone deserves a second chance, and I knew I had to see your face again in person or else I felt like I was doing something wrong. It took me a while, but I realized you’re the reason I’ve ever been truly happy. I mean… You’re smart, beautiful, funny… You’re everything a guy wants in a girl. And trust me, out of all the irrelevant exes I’ve had before and after you, you’re the only one that ever stuck to me. The one I’ve always thought about. You have no idea how many times I wanted to text you, or call you again, but when you broke up with me, you never answered any of those… So I stopped. Then I told myself that I wasn’t going to try to reach you like that anymore, I had to see you in person. So… here I am.”
