< Chapter 78: Heaven’s Gift >

♥ Ryan’s POV: ♥

We were all still seated, talking about our current situation. I tapped my feet against the floor to make random rhythms as my elbows propped up against my lap and I leaned forward. We were still in the waiting room at the hospital, sitting patiently until it was someone else’s turn to go see Jamie. Though, I had a feeling it would be a while until that could happen.

After what felt like forever, we heard footsteps approaching from the hallway and I nodded at Chaz, Phoebe and Noah, letting them know I wanted to go next.

“How’d it go? Chaz asked, as soon as Justin came into our view. But we already knew the answer to that. There was a huge smile on his face, and his cheeks were stained with what I assumed were happy tears.

“She’s doing okay,” his smile widened as he wiped at his cheeks.

“Aww,” I heard Phoebe whisper to Noah as she clung to his arm. “They’re so cute together.”

I couldn’t help but smile too, because I knew it was true. My best friends make the world’s greatest couple.

“I’m happy you’re better now. As for Jamie, she’ll be well soon enough,” I stood up, patting Justin’s back.

“Thanks, and I know she will,” he gave me a smirk. We stared at each other for a while, and I was about to leave to visit Jamie but Justin’s smile suddenly dropped and his eyes widened as if realization dawned down on him. “Wait a minute…”

I blinked three times, continuing to stare into his eyes and waiting for him to elaborate.

“You… Y-you… Allison…” he stuttered, unable to phrase a proper sentence that made sense.

I smiled. “I know. We’re together now. I told you already but that was when you still couldn’t remember much,” I nodded, leaving towards the hallway and letting the news he had already known finally sink in. I walked forwards until I reached Jamie’s room, and I knocked softly, letting her know it was me before I heard a, Come in.

“Hey Ry,” she smiled warmly at me. I took note of the television in front of her that was supposed to entertain her, but it seemed as if she was barely even paying attention to it and would much rather talk to us instead.

“Hi Jamie, how are you feeling?” I asked, returning the smile. I shut the door and took a seat beside her bed.

“Good. Just a little pain on my ankle,” she shrugged.

“You’re a tough girl, you know,” I chuckled.

“I guess I am,” she laughed, reaching across to pick up a glass of water, taking a few gulps, and setting it back down on the table.
