Concern

*A/N: Hey guys. Sorry this is kind of a filler, but please enjoy anyway.*

I have never dreaded school as much as this. Everything still kind of hurts, and I had those cuts from the Oni, and my jaw hurts so eating today will be painful. Choir went by simply enough. The people I knew asked me what happened and I just told them what I told Ty, I ran into a tree because I wasn't paying attention. The rest of the day was a blur, but somehow, French is never that way. It's like hitting fast forward then hitting play.

I sat down, and kept my head down, not wanting to draw attention since more people seem to like me in French. "Hey Ari." A voice I know quite well says. I put my hand up and waved, not wanting to talk. The footsteps recede then come back. "What's up? Why's your head on the desk?" It asks.

"Jared,I don't want to talk about it." I mutter.

"Come on. Are you upset?" He asks. I shake my head. "Then what? You're so stubborn." I smile under my arm, and snicker. "OK, so you're not in a bad mood. So what?" It questions again. I poke my head up and put my hand over the wound.

"Nothing. I was just trying to sleep, and you woke me up." I joke.

Brandon walks into the room and waves to me. Forgetting that the hand I wave with was hiding the Oni's damage, I waved with my right. Both of their eyes widen. "What happened?" Jared demands. My eyes widen momentarily.

"Tree branch. I ran into one." They both laugh. "Yeah, yeah, call me clumsy." I laugh. If they knew the real why that's there, they would not believe me and think I hit my head.

2:33. I tap my feet and wait for my friends, while my classmates ask me why I'm waiting. Finally, I just get up and wait in the hall. Even though it was about 30 seconds, it felt like a half hour. "You're out early." Someone says.

"Yeah, yeah, Alec, let's go." I start walking and three others follow. Today, to my surprise, no demons come. We go back to the Institute, free of problems.

Boy was I wrong. When we told Hodge, he got all ridgid. "No demons? Not after two days of demon attacks? One that almost got Ariella a concussion and unconscious? And you say that like's it's a good thing. Go. I have to think." He orders. He goes back to his desk muttering again.

"He has a point." Isabelle says, while we walk to her room.

"I guess. But he got all ridgid, isn't that weird? I mean come on." I say. Isabelle takes that into consideration as I study more Latin, some that's commonly seen on signs of Shadowhunters.

"Tomorrow, we're going to the Silent City, they have some Latin phrases there. We will not be going inside, but we will be seeing the outside. That will be your test." I acknowledge that and make a mental note. Study my Latin like no tomorrow. I go to history and Demon-ology, a.k.a the upstairs of the library.

"You thought Hodge's reaction was weird, right?" Alec prompted. I bob my head in agreement.

"Well, he's probably over thinking," he says, "Anyway, onto history." He continues. Today, it was all about Idris. That magical place Jace told me about. He talked about how beautiful it is, the rolling grass hills, the endless blue sky with only wisps for clouds. He talks about how it's capital, Alicante, looks like glass. That's why its nickname is 'The Glass City.' He talks about the demon towers, and how the guard Alicante and that the only way to disable them was to do it inside, but they can sense demon blood. They keep top security too. In other words, there's no way to get demon blood in.

Alec talks about the streets of Alicante, how everything is witchlight powered, and there's no real modern technology. No cars, no phones, no nothing, they live in the past, and that's ok. Next, I head over to the weapons room, where, to no surprise, Jace is waiting. "What's today? More ceiling diving?" I ask as I walk in. He gives me the Look. I think back to what Alec said, and he was right, it was creepy how we had almost the exact Look.
