Floating

"Chloe." Another name rises me from the depths. Jace strokes my cheek and combing my hair that's fanned out behind me. He sees me stir. "You're back." I give him a look that suffices as a nod. Heat spreads through my veins again. A pained look crosses my face.

"What?" He asks, the concerned look back on his face.

"My head, everything hurts." That was all I could say because the fire was almost to the point of unbearable. My vision becomes tunneled. He begins saying words I cannot make out. His voice sounds farther away each word he says. He sits back, defeated, and goes back to murmuring my name, in his tick tock rhythm.

11:22. Someone touches his shoulder. "Jace, you should sleep. It's late." Alec says softly. He shakes off Alec's hand.

"I'm fine. I don't need sleep." He replies.

"Yes you do. She'll be fine."

"Alec, I'm fine. I just need to be alone." He murmurs. Alec looks at him, then walks off. Another person walks up.

"You know, Alec's really worried for you." Isabelle states, in way of saying hello.

"He shouldn't be. I'm fine." He states.

"You can't stay up all night."

"Yes I can." Isabelle looks at him, a look almost identical to her brother's, then creeps off. The two watch from the door goes back to repeating her name over and over.

I wake up, and only a dull ache comes with it. No heat comes rushing up. Something seems different in the room. It wasn't the fact I was hearing my name over and over, it's the lack thereof. I look over, and sleeping, sitting, is Jace. I smile. His head is dangling down on his chest. "Jace." I whisper. His eyes snap open and he looks at me.

"You're awake." He wraps his arms around me. I sit there, breathing the familiar scent of lemon and clean soap.

He pulls away and pulls out a vial with emerald liquid. "Drink this. It will help." I down the small vial and set it down.

"What happened? After I fell unconscious." He glances at me cheek, and then speaks.

"We took you to Magnus Bane, the high warlock. Alec has connections, and he said-" He stops, like he didn't want to say what he is going to.

"What? What did he say?" His voice comes out as a whisper.

"He said you have demon poison inside you. Abbadon must have put that on your cheek when you fell." He pulls me into his arms again. "I thought you were dead. You almost died. You were pale, and bleeding, and your breathing was ragged, slowing, and-" I cut him off.

"But I'm not. I'm fine." Even as I say those words, pain went to every wound I had.

"You're not fine, but you're alive. You're safe. Nobody's going to hurt you. That's all that matters right now." I stay in his arms, smelling the familiar scent known only to Jace, lemon and clean soap.
