We walk over to the school. My mind fills with dread, and my face is gaunt, and filled with fear, something that almost never happens. She glances back and stops. "What's the matter with you? You should be excited." She states.

"I'm sorry. I'm just wondering, will my family and friends be preserved. My mundane ones." It's hard enough to realize that I'm about to go battle my friends, but to know that my family and friends will die too?

"Yes. You have done well, so this your reward." Gee, like that's the best reward ever. "Now, let's go introduce the new Ariella." She states, putting her hand on my back and guiding me to the field. There, I see two patrolling. The Lightwoods. Where's Jace? "Go. Go do what you're here for." She whispers into my ear. I draw a quick soundless rune, and start running.

I run toward Isabelle and jump onto her, pinning her. She squirms, trying to grab a weapon, but I pin her arms. She looks up, her almost black eyes glittering. "Ari?" She gasps. I lean down and whisper in her ear.

"Did Jace tell you?" She nods and continues to struggle.

"I won't kill you. I'll fake it. Ready?" She nods and flips me off of her.

Both of us are on our feet. I start to make punches and kicks, trying to land my blows somewhere. I'm not trying, so I can have Isabelle survive. She makes blocks, and retaliates with kicks and punches as well, feigning a look of fear. I take out a dagger and I move it to the side where Sonomus can't see the blade. I put it to the side of her gear, so it didn't actually kill her. I kneel down, and say, loud enough for Sonomus, "Sorry, it's just business." I lean closer again and whisper. "Good job." I pull out my stele and draw an invisibility rune then drag her behind a wall.

"Go get 'em." Isabelle whispers.

I rush over to Alec and kick him in the back, sending him staggering. "Ari! What the hell?" He asks, though I know he knows the plan.

"I have to do this." I state. Again, I use hand to hand combat to get him tired out, and I put him into a headlock, knocking him to the ground.

"Ari. This isn't who you are." He states, struggling under my knee.

"Yes. It is." And I "stab" him. I drag him back to the wall and again draw an invisibility rune.

"It's working. But now I have to act about killing Jace. I can't do this." They sit behind the wall, looking at me.

"You'll be fine. Now go." They say. I stalk back and glance around for Jace. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I start to slowly turn around. I'm flat on my back before I know it. I grunt in pain. A knee is placed right in between my shoulder blades, making me incapable of moving.

I manage to flip onto my back, and the knee is now on my chest. I look up and see golden eyes staring at me. "Where are they?" He hisses. I glance over to the wall they're hiding behind. He follows my gaze and nods. I push him off of me and jump to my feet. "So, you really joined her?" He says.

"Yes. The Shadowhunters are a dying breed. I did what I could to survive." I answer back.

"You know, when you pleaded in my head that day to save you, I searched for you that night. But I guess it was a lost cause." He sighs.

I know he's acting, but I believe him. I make a lunge for him and punch him in the chest. "I was going to give you one more chance, but I see I have no choice." He says, and swipes at me. I duck and roll. He pulls out a dagger, and runs in close. I pull out mine, and we begin to spar. More than once, I almost get sliced, as does he. I disarm his knife and he blocks and defends using his hand to hand combat skills.
