"Get up, my prodigy. Time to train." Sonomus states.
"And what if I don't want to?" I demand. She smiles, it wasn't a nice smile. The pain rushes into my body, leaving me twitching on the ground, screaming. Then it leaves.
"Oh. You know, you've had a hard night, you should get the day off." She says with sarcasm.
"Sure. But I'm pretty sure that this is a bed, not a bed and breakfast." I reply with the same dry voice and look. Pain rips through my veins, and I shriek for the few seconds it's there.
"You'll be here. You already know the dark ways, it's merely a matter of saving it until I need it." She says.
"Fine. Can I at least have my hands back?" I ask. She comes in, and unties them. She touches my bruised wrist.
"There, there, You'll heal. Where's you stele, dear Shadowhunter?" I touch my own wrist, the red mark where the rope has cut into my skin.
"I lost it. I can't find it. It probably fell out when you brought me here." I lie. It's in my pocket, she just can't see it.
"Good. Because I can't have you healing yourself and trying to escape." She says, all malice in her voice. "Now, the good news is you won't be sitting here all day. I need you now." She grabs the rope.
"You said I can have my hands." I mutter.
"Yes. While you're here. But outside of here," She chuckles, "I don't trust you quite yet." She uses it to drag me out to the main room.
I struggle and pull, but she yanks me off my feet and I go sprawling. She ties the rope around something, leaving me incapable of moving. She pulls something up, and the doll is right next to her. It's a Projection. "Look professional. Look like you want to be here." She mutters.
"I don't. You made me. I just can't leave." I growl. It is to the Institute. Hodge answers. "Hodge!" I cry, but Sonomus smacks me. He stands there, frozen.
"Hodge, who's that?" A female voice calls.
"Izzy! Isabelle, help!" I cry again. Sonomus ties a piece of cloth around the doll, which in a matter of seconds, gives me a cloth over my mouth.
"Ari?" Isabelle asks. "Jace! Alec! Get in here!" She calls off the screen. The two boys rush into view.
"Ari." Breathes Jace. I struggle against the rope that holds me immobile, but all it does is digs into my skin, causing them to go red and bleed.
I try and shout his name through the cloth, but it just comes out muffled. I result to just screaming through the cloth. Jace! Jace, help!! Please. My voice catches in my head and I start to cry. "Hush my prodigy." She hisses.
"What the hell she talking about?" Alec demands.
"Oh. I just came to tell you all that Ariella here is no longer yours. She's mine. She came here to join me because she realized the better side."
No! Jace, don't believe her! She made me! You have to help me! Get me out of here! I scream in my head. Whether or not he can hear me or not, I don't know. "Let her go, Sonomus." Hodge says calmly. She seems to "ponder".
"Let me think, no! I told you, she came on her own." No I didn't. I woke up and I was here. She made me. Jace! Help! Get me out of here! The connection is cut off. "Bye, now. Just wanted to deliver the news."
It clicks off and she throws me across the room. I slam into the wall and cry out. "How dare you try tell them the truth. Tomorrow, I have and assignment for you, you will finish off your friends." She smiles, showing her sharp dagger teeth.
"NO! I can't kill them." I shout at her.
"You don't have a choice." She hums into my ear. She takes the doll that resembles me and grabs a needle.
She pokes it into its arm and takes it out. I cry out clutching my arm where the puncture wound is made. It's the size of a dagger, since it's in proportion. "You'll do it, or else." She says, with a deadly calm that reminds me of Jace. She picks me back up, and shoves me back into my cell. She takes the rope off and slams the door.
By the Angel, I have to get out of here. I rub my wrists, now red and rubbed raw. Let's hope that Jace heard me. I let more tears run down my cheeks and I fall into a restless sleep, not bothering about my wound, still trickling blood, and staining my shirt.
*Jace POV*
"Jace! Alec! Get in here!" Isabelle shouts. She never sounds that panicked unless there's major trouble. Jace and Alec run into the room, to see a Projection. It's Sonomus, and Ari, kneeling on the ground, hands tied, and a cloth over her mouth.
"Ari." Jace gasps. She pulls against the rope and stops, and he sees they're red and bleeding.
She tries saying a name, but they can't make it out, because it just comes out muffled. She results to just screaming through the cloth. Jace! Jace, help!! Please. Her voice echoes in his head and she starts to cry. "Hush my prodigy." She hisses.
"What the hell she talking about?" Alec demands, looking between the group.
"Oh. I just came to tell you all that Ariella here is no longer yours. She's mine. She came here to join me because she realized the better side."
No! Jace, don't believe her! She made me! You have to help me! Get me out of here! Her voice screams in his head. He doesn't say anything, he didn't know what to do. "Let her go, Sonomus." Hodge says calmly. She seems to ponder.
"Let me think, no! I told you, she came on her own." No I didn't. I woke up and I was here. She made me. Jace! Help! Get me out of here! The connection is cut off, it feels like a cut phone line. "Bye, now. Just wanted to deliver the news."
The Projection switches off. "Hodge, we have to get her!" Jace says after a moment of silence.
"No. We cannot. It's too dangerous. She's gone anyway. We lost a great Shadowhunter." He says, like he's accepting that she's dead.
"But we can still save her! Please!" He says.
"I said no. And don't try to save her. Promise." Jace nods numbly, and heads off to the weapons room.
Alec follows behind. "We can't do anything! Why not? She doesn't want this! I know she doesn't. She told me." he shouts, throwing a dagger.
"It's that strong? You can communicate in your heads? Oh, by the Angel, we have to get her out." Alec states.
"We can't. Hodge said not to." Isabelle states, walking in.
"I know. We don't have to."
"Jace, what the hell are you talking about? Yes, we do." Isabelle shouts.
"I can talk to her. In my head. Iz, it works. It's that strong, either that or she's that scared." He tells them the running commentary in his head.
"We have to get her back." Isabelle states. They nod.
"Yes, but we don't know where it is. It must be out of the way, and where we cannot go." Alec points out.
"We don't have to get her. I can talk to her. I can ask her what the plans are, and then if she's going anywhere in town, we can do something. Meet her there." Jace says. Realization dawns on their faces.
"Of course. All right, so when will we know?" Alec asks.
"Tomorrow. I promise. Now let's get training. Hodge should be getting us soon." They walk to the library.
