For the next week, we see no demons, much to Hodge's concern. I am now off the harness, and have almost mastered front flips and back flips, and Jace is making me use the wall as momentum off of tons of surfaces, some smooth and uneven. My jaw and injuries are gone.

Now, we are prowling around the back of the school, like we always have. We still see nothing but the back of the school. A boy comes up. A small sixth grader. I've been in the sixth grade pod to see my old teachers and I have never seen him before. He must be new.

"Hello, mister. Could you please go back inside?" I ask politely. He just looks at me.

"No. I won't go back in." He says, kind of angry." I look around, though the others don't notice him.

"Little boy, you really shouldn't be out here. I know no teachers have let you out." I restrain my annoyance.

"Give it up. I know what you are." He says. I give him a quizzical look.

"I'm a seventh grader. What else can I be?" This boy is being stubborn and is acting strange.

"No! I know that. I know you're Nephilim." He snaps. My eyes widen momentarily.

"What an imagination you have."

"No. You are Nephilim, and your friends. I know this. Do not hide it."

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I act innocent, but this boy is scaring me. His eyes flash. Not in a regular mundane annoyance, but they flashed another color, a bright green.

"I see the runes. You are one of them!" He barks.

"Ok. I am Nephilim, what's it to you?" I retort.

"You are what I need." With that, the sixth grader peels apart and roiling black grows up and up until a figure, nine feet tall, towers over me. The others rush over.

"What the hell?" I yell. I look up at the demon standing before me.

"I am Abbadon!" It roars. Shadows come from his hands and draws the others away.

"You are not a minor demon?" I yell up.

"Of course not! I am a Greater Demon! And I need you." I lob a dagger his way. It bounces off of him, and he smacks the across the field. I cry out and back flip and land. Thank you, Jace. I think. I run up at slash his leg, which is all I can reach.

It bounces off again. Again he swats me away. I slam into the chain link fence and shout. I fall onto my knees. "Ari!" Jace calls. He finishes his shadow off and runs over to the demon. Abbadon sends more demons out for him to handle. Abbadon lumbers over.

"Get up!" He booms.

I get to my feet and his hand grabs me and I'm lifted off the ground. His breath reeks of rotting flesh. His other hand drags across my arm. Pain shoots up my arm and I grimace. I stab his hand and I hurtle toward the ground. I dig my sword in and drag it in his back

He roars and rakes his hand across my midriff. I scream and go flying toward the school. The others are done with their demons and go to battle Abbadon. I crash into the school wall and fall onto the pavement. The demon shambles over to me. He kneels down and becomes my height.

His talon starts at my temple and he presses in. He then slowly drags it down my face to my chin. I call out for my friends, but they are too far away. He picks his talon up, my blood dripping from it, and starts from my cheekbone, near my nose, presses in again, and brings it across the length of my cheek, until it meets my previous cut and I cry out.
