Maria
Refusing the urge to bring some form of weapon so that she could maim Gordon for wasting her time, Maria got ready for the pre-trial meeting. She'd informed him through a painfully polite email that there would be a meeting prior to the trial and he'd replied he could make it.

Judge Gao had told her that Dean and Sam had actually found the information and proof. Her instinctual response to the idea that they'd use it to blackmail Gordon into dropping the charges had been joy for Dean's freedom, but then she remembered she was still furious with him.

Despite this, she still made an extra effort with her appearance that day, making sure her hair was perfect and her lipstick was flawless. If she was going to be angry with him, she'd be gorgeously angry with him.

Sam
When he arrived at court with Dean, they spotted Maria getting out of a cab. He and Dean raised their hands to her, but she ignored the waving brothers and walked right inside.
"Sheesh." Sam muttered, Dean looked unsurprised by her reaction.

They followed her inside and to Judge Gao's office. Sam shot her discreet smile which she returned before resuming professionalism.
"Ms. Ramirez, where's Mr. Walker?" Anna asked. Maria gave a noncommittal shrug.
"He said he was coming."

Five minutes later the man in question arrived, glaring at the the brothers and taking a seat.
"Mr. Walker this meeting today regards you and you only." Anna began, and of course, Gordon interrupted.
"Me only? Then why are those two here?" He asked.
"If you'll let me finish I'll tell you." Anna replied through gritted teeth.

Gordon was silent and she continued.
"It has come to our attention that the funds you have been using to pay for the employment of Maria Ramirez as your lawyer come from an illegitimate source." She explained slowly, they all watched Gordon for his reaction.

"That's a lie! The Winchesters obviously made it up." He snapped.
"Sa- Mr. Winchester and his client didn't lie about anything. There is proof." She said calmly. Sam hid a smile at how Anna had nearly used his first name, he could tell Dean had noticed too from the amused look in his eyes.

"Now you have two options, take the charges for your offence, which I will tell you are pretty extensive, or drop the charges against Mr. Winchester." She finished. Gordon sat in his seat, utterly flabbergasted.
"But this is blackmail!" He cried.

"It's not, it's saving time and effort. Not to mention without me as your lawyer you're done for anyway." Maria intervened. Sam glanced at Dean who evidently hadn't expected her to stick up for him. Well, indirectly anyway. Gordon stayed in his jaw-dropped state for a few minutes, before standing slowly.

"Fine." He muttered angrily. Sam grinned at his brother, they were out of the woods.
"Great. Now let's go in there and officially voice the decision." Anna said, picking up a small stack of folders and leaving the office with the other four in tow and into the court room.

After the trial the brothers were in great spirits, they went to a nearby bar for a celebratory drink. They sat together laughing about the mortified expression on Gordon's face when he had to announce he'd dropped the charges.
"But you noticed that Maria was on your side right?" Sam said hopefully. Dean's smile weakened fractionally.

"She wasn't on my side, she was out to get Gordon for wasting her damn time." He chuckled, sipping his beer.
"Dean, you realise she didn't even have to be at that meeting or even the trial? As soon as Anna told her, she had no obligation to have anything to do with this case." Sam insisted. Dean didn't seem convinced.

"It doesn't matter now anyway. So when you planning on asking Anna out?"
