Dean
The doctors came in that morning to tell Dean that Maria was making good recovery so far and she'd begin waking up for longer periods of time and in two days she'd be able to leave. He wasn't particularly enjoying his post in the uncomfortable hospital chair but he wasn't going to leave her.

A nurse came in and dumped the duty on him to wake her up and get her to eat some soup.
"Just shake her awake and get her to eat as much as she can." She instructed.
"Ain't that your job?" Dean half joked, but the woman simply rolled her eyes and left.

He went to her bedside and did as the nurse advised, and shook Maria gently until her eyelids slowly opened.
"I was sleeping." She grumbled.
"You gotta eat some of this soup." He told her, helping her to sit up.

Maria tried to eat it by herself but her hands were too shaky so Dean ended up feeding her like a child.
"This is so embarrassing." She muttered between spoonfuls.
"Secretly you like it." Dean joked. "Here comes the airplane-"
"Nope. That stops right now if you want me to eat any more."

Dean burst out laughing, he realised just how tightly wound he'd been since Maria had gone and how much more relaxed he was now that she was with safe.
"Hey. You know I'm really glad you're back." He said. Maria raised an eyebrow.

"Did you turn soft?" Dean nudged her arm with his fist.
"You wouldn't be saying that if you saw me rescue your ass from Gordon." Her eyes widened.
"You got me out of there?" She practically whispered.
"Go back to sleep, I'll tell you everything when you wake up."

Sam
He wasn't a big fan of the mall, but there he was, pushing through throngs of people trying to get presents. There was one thing that had convinced him to go however, and it was struggling to keep up.
"Hey slow down!" Anna called out, Sam stopped and tried not to laugh as he watched the shorter woman try to catch up with him.

"Sorry, I forget my legs are longer." Sam chuckled. He interlinked his fingers with Anna's and they walked together.
"What are you getting Dean?" She asked.
"Hm, I'm not totally sure but I was thinking maybe a beer fridge."

Anna grinned at him.
"Okay you have got to get him that. He'll love it."
"Alright, if you say so." Sam smiled, they made their way to an electronics store.

By the end of their shopping trip, Anna had managed to find a vintage Metallica t shirt which she got for Dean and baking materials for Maria who'd expressed a rather enthusiastic desire to be able to bake cakes like Anna's. Sam had ordered the fridge and a pair of spectacularly large earrings for Maria at Anna's advice.

"Do you know what Dean's getting her?" Anna asked as they sat in a coffee shop sipping hot drinks to warm themselves up.
"No idea, but he's always been kind of a gift genius."
