Anna
Before Anna could relax for the weekend she had a few files to look over and sign off on. She sighed as she slouched over desk, it had been a tiring weekend and she was ready to unwind. She almost missed her law school days where she only had essays to write.
Just as she finalised the last one, her phone buzzed. It was a text from Sam.
'Anna, I know it's short notice but are you free tonight?' A smile spread across her face, she was tired but not tired enough to turn down a date with Sam Winchester.
She typed out a quick reply saying that she was and waited with baited breath. His response was fast.
'Would you like to get dinner with me?' Of course her immediate response was yes. She jumped up from her desk and went to get ready. While she was winging her eyeliner, she received another message.
'Shall I pick you up at 8?' She couldn't help but laugh at how cliched it was, but she agreed and texted him her address. When eight rolled around, Anna hardly noticed because she was still fussing in the mirror over her appearance and the door bell ringing scared the living day lights out of her. She smoothed her hair down one last time and answered.
Sam stood in the doorway in black jeans, a dark blue shirt and the same long jacket he'd worn in the cafe the day they'd sat together. He grinned at her and handed her a rose.
"Sorry if it's cheesy, I guess I thought it'd be nice." He chuckled, clearly embarrassed.
"No it's not! I mean it's not cheesy, I didn't mean it's not nice, it's really- ok let me stop blabbering, I'm gonna put this in water then we'll go." She nearly smacked herself when her back was turned for embarrassing herself. She ran the faucet and filled a tall glass with water, placing the red rose in it. With that, they left, hand in hand.
The restaurant Sam took her to had a beautifully be decorated exterior with flowers and potted plants leading to the entrance. It had a diamond in the rough feel to it, and as they entered a waiter appeared immediately, leading them to a table for two in an alcove by a window. There was a candle flickering in the middle of the table.
After reading through the menu and deciding between the delicious sounding meals on it, they ordered and chatted while they waited for their food. After talking about his friend Ash that had found the information that had shown Gordon's criminal activity Sam paused.
"There's something I should probably tell you." Anna took a breath, it sounded bad, she nodded for him to explain. "The night before the trial Dean and Maria kind of had a thing, and kinda continued it after they knew we were opponents." Anna nearly spat out her drink.
"What?!" She exclaimed.
"Yeah that was my reaction too." Sam chuckled guiltily.
"Well at least they can continue whatever it is without consequences now." She laughed. She had noticed a kind of tension between the two but she'd put it down to the pressure of the trial.
"Well..." Sam began. "They had an argument because of me, and I feel bad because I think they actually really liked each other." He seemed disappointed.
"Because of you?"
"I guess I backed Dean into a corner and he said some stuff he didn't mean and Maria heard."
Anna thought about how to respond, it sounded like a complicated situation.
"But she showed up yesterday when she didn't have to, surely that shows she cares at least a little bit about Dean still?" Sam's face brightened.
"That's what I thought!" He agreed.
Sam sighed, but perked up when their food was brought over.
"Why can't some people just be straight forward about it when they like each other, like us." He mused, taking a bite of his meal. Anna could feel herself blushing, Sam liked her.
Sam dropped her off at home around two hours later, it had been the best date she'd ever been on. He bounced lightly on his feet, looking around awkwardly.
"So... I can take you out again right? I mean you don't have to say yes, I'd just really like it." He rambled.
Anna just about died at how adorable he was when he was nervous, she put him out of his misery.
"I'd really like that." She smiled and Sam's dimples had returned. He leant down a little, her heart began racing uncontrollably.
"Can I?" He asked.
She nodded, and received the sweetest kiss she'd ever been given in her life.
