Dean
It wasn't often that Dean woke up to text messages, but today was one of those days. He squinted at the screen sleepily trying to read the name of the sender. The name his brain relayed to him couldn't have been right. He sat up suddenly, rubbing his eyes viciously. It couldn't be her.

But when he was fully awake and his eyes were wide open, it read the same as it had a second ago; 'Maria'. He frantically unlocked his phone to read the message. His heart stopped when he saw what it said.
'We should talk. Call me soon. M.' He looked up at the ceiling to whatever force was up there looking out for him, silently thanking it.

Dean hadn't wanted to seem too eager, so he left it until that evening to call the object of his frustration. When the time came, he could hardly tap the call button fast enough. It rang a few times before she answered. He held his breath until she spoke.
"Hello? Dean?" He couldn't help but grin at the way she said his name.

"Finally, the most lethal lawyer in Texas talks to me." He joked. He could practically hear Maria rolling her eyes.
"Don't get your hopes up Winchester. I'm giving you a chance to explain yourself." Dean paused. He really didn't want to put his heart on a plate and hand it to her but he was going to have to bruise his ego a little if he wanted her in his life. So he relented.

"Listen Maria. Anyone who knows me knows that I can be a prizewinning asshat. With a giant ego."
"Tell me something I don't know." Maria interrupted, Dean ignored her comment and continued.
"And that big ego gets in the way of me not being a prizewinning asshat sometimes. Prime example, what happened the last time you came over."

He paused for breath and Maria decided to add her input again.
"Are you gonna get to the point any time today?" She quipped.
"Okay, okay! The point is that Sam was right. I did like you more than I was letting on, I still do. But I wasn't gonna admit that to him after he came busting into my apartment being the annoying little shit he is."

There was no sound from the other end of the phone apart from background noise of the city. "I regretted what I said the minute I said it. It wasn't just superficial, I could have someone else if I wanted but I don't. I want you." He finished.
"Dean, I-" there was a clattering on the other end of the line and Dean heard a muffled scream.
"Maria?! Maria!"

When they spotted her leaving her apartment building, they began to follow. She was on the phone to someone, walking quickly to wherever it was she was going. They hoped no one was expecting her or it could make things a little harder. She stopped at a traffic light crossing, tapping her foot impatiently, waiting for the lights to change to red.

It seemed she got impatient, as she changed her course, making her way down an alleyway instead. 'Perfect' they thought, trailing her from a few metres behind. When she was nearly halfway down the dark alley, they reached into their pocket to get the cloth and the bottle.

Dampening it with the strong smelling chemical, they moved faster to catch up with her. When they were right behind her, still distracted by her phone call, she spoke.
"Dean, I-" They cut her off, clamping the cloth around her mouth and nose, she dropped the phone and tried to scream.

It only took a few moments of holding her tightly while she struggled furiously, before she slowly began to go limp in their arms.
