Anna
Behind her collected facial expression, Anna was terrified. They were about to break into Gordon Walker's basement and save Maria.
"I swear to God she better be alive." Dean muttered.
"Don't jinx it!" Anna hissed. They stood in a dark alley around the corner from the building, Dean and Sam had laughed in Anna's face at her request for a gun but she felt a little safer once they'd relented and given her a knife.
Dean exhales heavily.
"You guys ready?" She and Sam nod in confirmation. With that, the three crowd around the back entry to the building and Sam takes out his tools for picking the lock. Within seconds they're in and Anna had to admire his skill.Dean takes the lead, his gun pointed in front of him should they run into the enemy. Ash had sent them blueprints of the building so they quickly found the door to the basement and Sam went to work again. Anna felt as if she were in a spy movie.
Anna held her breath as they made their way down the stairs as quietly as possible. Sam glanced behind at her and smiled reassuringly and she tried to smile back. The thought that Gordon could be down there was nerve wracking.
They reached the bottom of the stairs and it was pitch black and chilly, Anna held her hand in front of her face but she couldn't see it through the darkness. There was a clicking sound and a beam of light sprung forward from her left.
Sam had turned on a torch and was directing it at the wall until he found a light switch. When a pale yellow glow had flickered to life, they could see her.
Maria was strapped to a rickety wooden chair in the middle of the stone floor, her head hung forward floppily. She appeared unconscious, at least Anna hoped it was just unconsciousness.
Dean
The minute he spotted her Dean rushed forward and grasped Maria by the shoulders, shaking her. Her head lolled back to reveal her face was pale with bruises on her jaw and the side of her head. His entire being overflowed with bubbling fury."Maria? Wake up. Wake up." He said. A few unintelligible noises slipped from her but nothing more, her eyes stayed closed. "Anna give me your knife." He quickly began working at the tight ropes around her wrists and ankles, angry red marks encircled them.
"Jesus." He heard Sam mutter behind him, his brother crouched down beside him helping to lift Maria from the seat. They were in the middle of this action when there was a noise from upstairs, the three froze.
All too fast, Gordon appeared at the door, gun pointed at the closest person which happened to be Sam. He fired. The younger Winchester shouted in pain and dropped, clutching his shoulder.
"Screw you Winchester!" He yelled.Sam
He couldn't believe he'd been so slow to react, he was in absolute agony as he tried to hold the blood that was seeping from his shoulder in. He knew the bullet hadn't gone in or he'd be in far more pain.He watched as Anna seemed to leap into action, grabbing his gun from the floor and shooting a surprisingly well aimed bullet at Gordon. It hit him in the upper thigh and he too collapsed.
"You bitch!" He seethed, clutching his leg.Sam could only groan in pain as Dean shouted;
"GO!" And leapt into action, throwing Maria over his shoulder in a fireman's lift and pulling him up with Anna's help. They struggled past Gordon, Anna struggling to hold him up on the right hand side while attempting to call an ambulance. The pain was awful, but he pushed himself to walk as much as he could.
Once they were back outside, the cold air felt good to breath, he tried to steady his heart rate and he slumped to the ground.
Dean
Too much was happening at once. Sam had been shot, Maria was still unresponsive and Anna was freaking out.
"Oh god, Sam was shot, oh my god, I shot someone!"
"Anna, I'm fine. It just grazed me." Sam sighed. With Maria in a bridal hold he elbowed her.
"Calm down!" He snapped. "We need to focus on helping them. Sam, sit up against the wall so the wound is elevated." He did as he was told.Soon they could hear sirens in the distance and Dean had never been so relieved to hear the authorities. Two ambulances screeched to a stop at the entrance of the alleyway and a police car. The paramedics jumped out and rushed towards them with a gurney.
A female paramedic began bombarding him with questions.
"What's happened to her?" His brain scrambled for an answer.
"Uh she's been missing since the 14th, I don't know if the kidnapper fed her or gave her water."The woman looked at him incredulously but took her from his arms with the help of a man and strapped her to the mobile bed and took her away. He followed and tried to get into the ambulance with her but the woman stopped him.
"The police need you to answer questions, I will take your name and you will be allowed to visit."And she closed the doors before Dean could reply. He watched as Anna got in the ambulance with Sam and he jogged back to the building where the police were gathered.
A man with dark hair approached him, showing his badge to him.
"You didn't say there was a third victim."
"All due respect officer but we didn't really see him as a victim." Dean replied sharply. The policeman eyed him irritatedly."Am I right in assuming this is the man who was holding the missing woman?" He asked, indicated to Gordon who was being dragged from the building in handcuffs.
"Yeah he is." Dean growled, glaring at him."It seems strange that you found where he was holding her, it doesn't appear at all coincidental." The officer was writing things down in a pad.
"Call it Winchester's intuition." Dean sighed, and ran off before they could ask any more questions. He made a beeline for the Impala and sped to the hospital.
