  Beep, Beep, Beep...

I slowly opened my eyes, and heard the sound of a heart monitor. At first, I thought it was mine, but then I looked over. Luna Michelle was lying in the hospital bed next to me. Her usually pale skin looked yellow, and both of her legs were placed in a hanging slings. I immediately tried to get to her, when I was pushed back onto the bed. I looked up, and met the gaze of the pack doctor, Dr. Lenin. He handed me a bottle of water. Hesitantly, I took the bottle, and had a long drink of the water.

"What happened to Luna Michelle," I asked quietly.

Dr. Lenin's face held a look of anger.

"Your mother meant to attack you, but was unsuccessful. The Luna dove in front of you and took the majority of the hit. Her wolf isn't recovering quickly, and neither is her human form. The Alpha is furious at himself for letting this happen, and locked himself in his office." replied Dr. Lenin firmly.

I felt like I had swallowed a stone. The Luna was hurt because of me, I was suppose to make sure nothing ever happened to any of the pack members; and now I couldn't protect the Luna.

After doing a final check, I was told that I had a broken wrist and some bruising around my throat. I was told take it easy for the next few weeks. I simply nodded my head, then left. I walked out of the pack hospital and onto the road. After walking for a few minutes, I reached the pack-house. I stopped short at the door. What if I get thrown out or my position gets taken away, or, or... No I can't think like that  I said to myself, as I opened the front door.
