I pulled the front door to the pack-house open. The Alpha, Kayden, and Ms. Kindi were seated in the main lounge. They turned to face me as I entered the room. The Alpha walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. Kayden stood up and walked over to me. I was pulled into a bone-crushing hug, and kissed delicately on the nose. At this, a small smile appeared on my face. I walked over to Ms. Kindi. Her face was twisted with agony and anger. She looked up at me. The lady I had known for so long latched onto my wrist. Pulling me onto the settee.
She whispered in my ear.
"My daughter is now hurt because of you. You claim to be a pack warrior, yet your Luna took a hit for you. Now she is injured, which makes you a terrible warrior.
I stood, and backed away from her. I attempted to tell her that there was nothing I could have done, that she had stepped in front of me; she was having none of it. Ms. Kindi stood, and stormed out of the room.
I turned to face the Alpha. He looked at me, his face depicting anguish; he turned and went after his mother-in-law. Kayden took my hand and brought it to his lips. My face held an angry tint.
"How do you think that we are mates, and yet, you have not shifted," Kayden asked out of the blue.
My mind was still focused on my previous conversation that I simply shrugged my shoulders. Kayden took my face in his hands and smiled. I suddenly remembered the books I had been searching through. I grabbed his hand, and brought him to the library. Immediately, he took an interest. We spent the next few hours searching through books; hoping to find something about our unusual bond.
