After that day, my luck ran out. I went with Cali to visit my mum, who still lived at my old pack, when we were stopped. Border patrol came out of the toll stand, and walked over to the driver's side window. Apparently, no other pack's members were allowed to enter. Cali smiled, but I could feel my frustration grow. I leaned over Cali, and looked at the guard with a clenched smile. The patrolman's face became ashen. He apologised for the inconvenience. Then, we were let through.

I got out and knocked on the pack-house front door. Luna Michelle opened the door for us. She greeted us and lead us to the Alpha's office. I noticed that her pregnancy stomach had become huge in the two-ish weeks that I had been gone.

Cali leaned over and whispered,

"I thought you said she was only one month pregnant, she looks as though she is in her second to last month."

"Zoe, you may sense a few changes around here; we had to treat the majority of the pack due to a new thread of the wolvine virus. I hope that your mother has gotten better and that she may see eye-to-eye with you from now on. We treated her, and have established that her attitude was a result of the later on-set effects of the virus," mentioned Luna Michelle breathlessly.

The Alpha welcomed us in. He led us into the basement or jail cells of the pack-house, we walked to the very last one. Inside, was my mother. Her piercing green eyes found me immediately. She trudged over to the glass, then widened her moth as if to say something, and coughed up blood. I watched my young mother sink to the ground, and age steadily before my eyes.

I bolted up the stairs, and stormed out the door. I ran, and  ran, and ran, and then ran even more. When I got back home, I wasn't even tired. I said nothing as  I walked through the front door and up to the our room. Kade was laid there, with a book and glasses on his nose. Sensing my distress, he opened the covers. I crawled in next to him. He said nothing as he turned the lights off, and I lay next to him as I drifted into dreamland.

My dreams have me a dreadful fright.

A beautiful lady was walking next to me. She smiled, but said nothing. I looked down at my feet, I could not see them! My stomach was huge and I could feel something kicking. I turned to look back at the lady, but she was gone. The baby kept kicking, and did not stop until I felt someone put their hand on my stomach. The lady was back. Her hand delicately trailed down my stomach. Guiding me over to a mirror, I faced myself; yet I looked like I was dead.

"I shall see you again my daughter, and the child shall be yours no longer," replied the woman.

A sharp pain clawed at my chest. I looked down and saw a knife protruding from my it. I collapsed and started clawing at my chest. I could feel the child within me kicking. In the distance I heard screams; Zoe, Zoe, Zoe...

  And then I was woken...
