I could not believe it. They were here.

Somehow they knew that Mariana was born yesterday, and wanted to strike at your weakest moment.

I turned to face Cali. She looked horrified. She grabbed Deena, and I took her hand. Together, we rounded-up mothers and children, and took them to the safe houses. Once that had been accomplished, I gave the order for the guards to lead everyone to safety. Cali and I wrapped our pups up around our backs, then took off to find any stragglers. After circling the pack-house, we met up again at he front. We ran to the nearest safe-house and tunnel system, then ran in. No one had left yet. There were about twenty-five wolves in the house all together. Taking Mari off my back, I sat down.

About an hour later, we heard them. The sound of paws hitting the ground, and pain-filled screams. Mothers with young children took their children, and other peoples' children, and left. There was only myself, Cali, our pups, and a few young teenagers, as well as one guard.

The other safe-houses have also been evacuated. Everyone is safe. The guards have gone to protect those who have left. I think we should send the last guard, and the teenagers away, so that they will be safe.

Thanks Lara. I am going to now.

I told the guard to take the teenagers through the passages; she protested, but I told her it was an order. I began to worry. Neither Cali, nor I had heard from our mates. Mari began to cry. I sat down. I rocked her back and forth. The door to the safe-house was ripped open.

"We found you."

Alpha Reilly was standing there, with her malicious beta. They had definitely found us,

Both Cali and I jumped up, and sprinted for the door. Reilly and her Beta were so taken back by this movement, that they stepped directly out of the way. We continued to run as fast as we could. I tried to mind-link Kade, but got nothing. We both barreled into the pack-house. Through the lounge (where we had been sitting a few hours ago), the kitchen, then out the back door. Into the backyard, then onto the road.

That's where the battle was. Blood had stained the pavement. Both Cali and I stopped short. Before we even had time to fathom what had happened, we heard them coming after us; so we ran. Down the bloodied street, into the centre of the battle, and through the battlefield. Into the hospital.

I threw open the door, and ran right. Cali ran left.

"I will take the Luna, you get the other one. I want both her and her baby dead," I heard Reilly scream.

I ran into an examination room, then through to the operating room. I opened a clear case, and placed Mari in it. I punched breathing holes into it, slipped my wedding ring on my necklace then placed it on my little baby, and then turned to face the door. Reilly burst through the door. She stared at me with a look of pure hatred and malice.

"Look at this. A Luna without her beloved Alpha. Where is he? And what about your precious little pup? Did you already lose the both of them," Reilly asked tauntingly.

"My pup is nowhere you will ever find her," I replied as boldly as I could.

She smirked. Throwing her head back, she laughed. It was filled with pleasure, pleasure that she had caught me, and without any help. I stared at her with disgust. Her head snapped toward me. Drawing out her claws, she dragged her claws across the walls, and counters. When she reached the case with Mariana in it, her head snapped towards me.

"Did you really think that you could hide her," Reilly laughed.

I looked her in the eyes. As she went to open the case, I dove in front of her. She stepped back.  Pulling back her hand, she dragged her claws across my face. I felt the blood drip down my skin, and onto my clothing.

  Let me help Zoe.

Alright Lara, let's do this.

I shifted. The power I felt in that moment, was none like I had ever felt before. I turned to my left, and saw that Reilly had also shifted. I snarled, then dove at her. She retaliated, then bit into my side. I yelped in pain, but grabbed her by the hind leg, and threw her into the door. She shifted back; then I did. Reilly ran at me, but I dodged her. I grabbed hold of her clothes, and clawed at her back. She punched me in the stomach. I coughed up blood. I looked up at her. Bending down, Reilly took hold of my neck. I could feel my pulse begin to die down.

"I can feel your pulse slowing down. Never in my wildest dreams had I ever known I would feel so happy at a moment such as this one," Reilly said, as though it was to herself.

I spat blood into her face. Drawing out her claws, she gave me one last once-over, then dug her claws into my stomach. Then standing up, she walked to the centre of the room. With my last bit of energy, I drew myself up, and limped to her. Taking a nearby scalpel, I stabbed her in the heart. She fell backward. Reilly was dead. I crawled back to where my baby was. Blood had began to dribble from my mouth. Taking one last glance at my little Mariana, and her at my with her large blue eyes, I fell back, onto the floor. I stared at the ceiling. I felt every energy, hope, dream, and fear leave me. I closed my eyes. My body relaxed. I felt at peace and calm. Everything went silent. Then, I saw a white light. I had died.
