Chapter 24

(Hayes' POV)

"I cannot believe you!" I say shaking my head and she laughs.

"It's what you wanted, to make her jealous, I think it worked, but um my hair is soaked." She says stringing it around her fingers and I roll my eyes.

"That not what I wanted. I thought we meant something to you." I say shaking my head and she nods.

"You do baby, I just thought you wanted her." She says sitting across my lap, I close my eyes and she lifts my head kissing me.

"Maggie, not here." I say grabbing her waist and she shakes her head.

"No. Here." She says and leans onto me.

"Cole is asleep." I tell Katie, she nods and leans back into Matthew, I sigh and sit next to Andrea.

"How are you Hayes?" She asks me with a smile and I smile half heartedly.

"I'm great." I say and she cocks her eyebrow.

"Are you sure? You don't seem great." She says and I look at Katie sleeping on an also sleeping Matthew.

"I miss her." I huff and run my hand through my hair and she nods.

"Of course you do, you're meant to be." She says with a nudge of my shoulder and I shake my head.

"Then why does she run back to him, every time." I ask her and she looks between me and her.

"Things fuck up sometimes, Cameron and I dated in high school, but you know, we made it here. Three children and an ex-wife later, we got our shit together and talked, things fix themselves, but time is the necessity of it all," She says and pauses, "give it that, and see where it goes." She nods and I nod looking at Katie.

"Don't leave." I beg her.

"Hayes I can't do it anymore." She cries and I feel my eyes droop.

"No." I say shutting my eyes and looking down.

"Goodbye." She says and stroking my cheek, she leans and kisses my cheek before running off to God only knows where.

"You know what'd be great?" Cameron smiles and everyone looks at him, "if we went to the beach, in a couple of weeks of course. Like we stay in Florida, maybe Disney world?" He says and everyone pretty much agrees, or just doesn't comment.

"Then it's settled, we will all meet in Florida." He nods and most of the crowd groans.

"Why is it a pro- oh." I say nodding, and Katie shakes her head.

"The travel will be worth it guys." She says and Matthew nods agreeing.

"Okay, I guess I'll travel." Sammy says and everyone nods.

"Anyway, I think it's time to go." Katie smiles patting Sammy's knee and standing up, everyone starts saying goodbye to everyone who's leaving.

I glance at Katie as she's hugging everyone, she keeps flickering her eyes to me and I notice it.

"Kay, may I have a hug?" I say with a smirk and she gives me a small smile.

"Yeah, but I'm still really mad at you." She says and I nod, she wraps her arms around my torso and I put my hands tightly on her hips.

"I understand." I whisper to her and she pulls away nodding.

"Goodnight, hope you get home safely." She smiles, I thank her and hold her hand as she walks away.
