Chapter 33

(Katie's POV)

"okay let's go home, where's Cole?" I ask looking around and Hayes' eyes go wide.

"Hayes what the hell did you do?" I ask him almost shouting and walking towards him.

"I left him in the bathroom." he says backing up with every step, "you asshole." i whisper and begin to walk away fast.

"Katie wait! I'll go with you." I hear behind me, I roll my eyes and keep walking, he catches up to me and stops me.

"I'm trying to go get our abandoned son." I snap and he looks taken back.

"I'm not sorry." I shrug and he looks down at his hand holding mine, he intertwines our fingers together and I look up at him.

"mommy? daddy?" I hear Cole, I turn and see him behind me.

"hi baby." I smile and hug him tightly, "hey, daddy is really sorry." Hayes says and I look up at him from my squatting position.

"he really is." I say looking at Cole and he nods, Hayes puts his arms out and Cole goes to him.

"thank you." Hayes mouths and I nod, Hayes puts his hand out that he's not holding Cole with and I take it.

"thanks." i murmur and he keeps ahold of my hand, "Hayes you can let go now." I say and he shakes his head.

"hi?" Matthew says and looks down at our hands when we get there, I shake my head and Hayes shrugs.

"we wanted to give Cole that" he pauses and puts Cole down, who runs to Emily, "real family experience." he finishes with a smirk and I look up at him.

"Hayes, stop lying." I snap and Matthew looks at him, "how am I lying if you're still holding my hand?" he asks me and I look down seeing I actually am.

"I forgot." I mumble taking my hand away and walking away from them.

"can we go now?" I ask Cameron and he nods, "where's Maggie?" I ask and he shrugs, "we got into an argument, with that, she left." he says and I shrug.

"okie dokie, the kids are buckled up, let's go." Madi says coming up to me, I nod and Madison stands in front of me.

"uh hey." she says and I stand there with a questioning face.

"yes?" I ask her and she sighs.

"I'm sorry." she says and I nod, "I know you've told me before." I nod and she sighs.

"well, I know you don't trust me, but I miss you, I miss our friendship." she says and I shrug.

"coming?" Matthew says gracing my shoulder and wrapping his arm around me, "yeah." I say and look back at Madison, she looks down and we walk away.

"all she does is talk about you, give her a chance." Matthew says and I roll my eyes.

"no, why does everyone want me to forgive her?" I ask rhetorically and he looks down.

"I'm sorry, don't be upset." I say apologizing to him and he shakes his head.

"it's alright." he smiles at me and I smile, he leans down and I kiss him.

we get back home and I go upstairs, "can we talk?" I hear behind me, I turn and see Hayes standing there.

"um, I don't think-" Matthew starts and I shake my head turning to him, "it'll be a few minutes, get to bed." I nod, he stares at me and then Hayes and turns away.

"in here." Hayes points to his bedroom and I nod, he lets me go first and I smile thanking him, he comes in after me.
