Chapter 8

(Katie's POV)

I wake up to the sound of the front door opening and I sit up on the couch, Hayes walks to the room and I stand up and cut the tv off going to our room behind Hayes.

"I'm taking a shower." He says mumbling in a deep voice, I nod and he walks in there shutting the door, I walk in the closet and change out of my clothes before changing into my bedtime clothes, I hear our door open and go out seeing Halley standing there.

"Yes?" I ask slightly annoyed, she takes notice and shakes her head.

"I just wanted to give you and dad a kiss, nevermind I guess." She says turning out and I sigh once she closes the door, Hayes comes out of the bathroom and I look at him.

"Halley came in here, she wanted to give us a kiss." I say, he shakes his head laying down and cutting off his lamp getting under the covers.

"I don't know what's wrong with you, but I'm going to give my daughter a kiss." I say shaking my head and walking out, I go to her room and before I push the door open hear soft sobs coming from the room making my heart break.

"Hals, what's wrong?" I say flipping her light switch and walking to her bed, she sits up wiping her tears and looking at me.

"I hit my toe." She says grabbing it and wiggling it around, it is red and swollen making me cringe.

"Aww, I'm sorry, but that's nasty." I say shaking my head, she starts laughing and I do too.

"Alright, get some ice if you need it, but you need to go to sleep so you can wake up for school." I say nodding, she smiles when I kiss her forehead, I stand up and walk back to my bedroom and see Hayes is laying there with his eyes open.

"I heard Halley crying is she okay?" He asks not looking at me, I roll my eyes and get in bed.

"It's not like you care anyway." I mumble cutting off the lamp and getting comfortable, Hayes pulls me into him and lays his head over my shoulder and kisses my cheek.

"Please don't be mad at me." He mumbles as I close my eyes, he sighs when I don't answer and we both fall asleep.

•the next morning•

"Ugh turn off the alarm clock." Hayes groans as it beeps and beeps, I slam my hand down across it and lay back into Hayes, we lay there for a minute until I realize that's the alarm for school.

"Hayes! The kids! School!" I shout rushing up and into the living room where I see the kids eating their cereal and all ready for school.

"Woah, who are you guys and what have you done to my children?" I say going around the counter and making them laugh.

"I figured since I'm going to be a teenager soon I mine as well grow up." Halley says with a shrug, Hayes comes up behind me shaking his head and putting it on my shoulder with his arms around my waist.

"You're only eleven stop trying to grow up, it sucks." He says, I nod agreeing with him and he kisses my cheek before walking to the stove.

"Don't love on mommy while we're in the room." Cole says covering his eyes making us all laugh, Hayes smirks and starts kissing me hard, they both start groaning and he laughs pulling away.

"Go get dressed guys." I say laughing, they nod and run to their rooms, I walk up behind Hayes who is eating at the stove again and put my arms around his torso.

"I love our family." I say with a smile, he turns and smiles down at me, we kiss and Halley comes in after we pull away.

"Which one of you are taking us to school?" She asks looking at us back as forth, Hayes' phone goes off and he hides it from me checking it.

"Not me, I have work." He says with a smile down at me, I roll my eyes jokingly and kiss him before walking to my room, I slip on some jeggings and a cute tank top, I slip on my shoes walking out of the door and get the kids finished and head out of the house, we all get in the elevator where Cole likes to press all of the buttons, we get out a minute later and I see Matthew walking out of the building, the kids run to the car causing me to chase after them even though I wanted to avoid Matt because of what happened the other night, I run smack into him and the kids hop into the car.

"Haha, I'm so sorry." Matthew says turning around and sticking out his hand to help me, I take it and he brings me up right in front of his face.

"Uhum, I need to get the kids to school, so I'll see you later." I say backing away and walking over to the car, he waves and gets in his own car at the same time, the driver goes to the school and the kids wave me goodbye after getting out.

From Maddy- hey hot ass, got time to spare? come meet me at the salon lets get our nails done

To Maddy- no I just dropped the kids off haha, I'll see you there

I put my phone in my pocket and tell the driver where to go, he drops me off there and I walk inside seeing Madison getting her hair dyed

"What?" I laugh, she smiles opening her eyes and nods slightly.

"It's a surprise, for everyone." She says smiling widely, I laugh shaking my head and sit down across from her where they do your nails, a woman comes next to me and starts on my nails.

"So what's the color?" I ask her, she shakes her head smiling.

"You can find out when it's done." She says smirking, I roll my eyes jokingly and relax in my chair.

"Record it and then I can post it." She says handing me her phone, I nod and start recording as she shakes her hair around I record it with slow motion because it looks more dramatic.

"Yay! It turned out great." She squeals taking the phone and watching it, I nod and play with her hair as she does.

"This looks good on you." I say nodding, she smiles and thanks me, we pay for our stuff and leave, she drives me back to the building and drops me off.

"Lowkey love you girl." She says waving bye as she pulls out of the parking lot, I wave back and go inside, I get in the elevator and Matthew, out of nowhere, rushes in next to me.

"Sorry, I had to." He says with a chuckle, I nod awkwardly and look down at my feet.

"What's wrong?" He asks me, I look up at him and shake my head.

"Nothing, why would you think that? Nothing's wrong." I say shaking my head, he cocks his head and turns to me.

"Please open up to me, I want to be friends again but I don't feel like you want to make that effort." He says putting his hand around my waist, I look down and he tilts my head back up and glazes his eyes into mine making me melt, he grazes his lips over my upper lip and the elevator dings, he detached from me and walks out, I stand shocked that I let that happen, it's like he trapped me with his stare.

I'm fucking falling for Matthew.
