"wanna go take a walk?" Matthew asks me and I nod, "but where?" I ask him and he nods his head.

"the beach, I hear the pier is very romantic." he says dancing up to me and then kissing my forehead making me laugh.

"yeah Katie, let's go walk on the pier." I hear Hayes from behind me and Matthew glares at him making me chuckle.

"it was a joke." Hayes says turning back to his plate, I smile and Matthew looks down at me.

"I'm so-" "how about that walk?" I say cutting him off, he pauses and nods.

"okay love you baby." I say kissing Coles cheek and I look at Hayes seeing him tapping his cheek.

"how about," I say coming over to him and leaning down to where he's sitting, I kiss his head and walk away.

"good enough." I hear him and I laugh.

"ready?" I ask Matthew, he takes my hand and we walk out.

"look, all I'm saying is that he hasn't given up on you." Matthew argues, I roll my eyes and fold my arms.

"Yeah well you're making it very hard to move on from him, you know?" I ask rhetorically, he looks at me and I look down.

"Can you just go back to the house?" I ask him shrugging and he nods, I sigh when he walks away and walk down the pier, alone.

I watch the ocean waves splash onto the ground, the birds fly across the sand, everything has my attention.

(Hayes' POV)

Matthew storms in the door while I wrap my arm around Cole, I look up and see he's staring at me angrily.

"Yes?" I smirk looking away and back at him, he makes a pissed face looking at Cole and I look down at Cole, who is eating his ice cream.

"Cole go upstairs please." I say patting his back, he nods and points to his ice cream.

"Yeah buddy, take it." I nod, he smiles and takes off upstairs, I sigh and place my hands in my pockets walking around the counter.

"Guessing Katie jumped?" I chuckle and he looks at me with serious eyes.

"You think this is funny?" He asks crossing his arms and I shrug.

"I mean it's not but-" He slams me against the counter seats.

"Ow!" I groan while he chokes me.

"You think that telling her you've given up on her is funny? That you're gonna have her running back to you after this?" He asks me and I tap his arm.

"Oh you want me to let go?" He asks and tightens his grip.

"Matthew stop!" I hear when my vision gets faded, Katie comes up and begins to pry him off, she does it and I fall to my knees catching my breath.

"What the hell!" She screams at him and goes to my side.

"Are you okay? Hayes?" She says sitting me up, I nod still choking and she nods, she stands up and faces Matthew.

"If you think we're still together after this, you're very wrong." She says and walks out, he turns to me and shakes his head, he walks the other way and the front door slams.
