Ryan’s POV

“Ryan?” Alison asked as I got into the driver’s side of the car.

We had just finished eating our breakfast in silence and now we were headed to the mall up the road so we could get her some clothes.  She hadn’t spoken for a while so I didn’t really know if she was okay or not.

“Yeah?” I said.

“Thanks for breakfast.” She said softly.

“Anytime.” I answered.

“It really does mean a lot for you and Ben to just take me in like this. Thank you.” She almost whispered.

“You’re Ben’s sister, why would we not take you in?” I questioned.

“Yeah I guess so.” She said as she looked out the window.

“Are you alright?” I asked as I placed one hand on her leg.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” She said as she placed her left hand on top of mine.

I didn’t believe her one bit, but I wasn’t going to push her to tell me.  I flipped my hand over and entwined my fingers with hers. I glanced over and found a smile across Alison’s face. Maybe there was something wrong, but at least I could get her to smile about something, if only for a few seconds.

We arrived at the mall a few minutes later and found it to be quite crowded.  I parked the car and got out, quickly making my way to Alison’s side and opening the door for her.  She unbuckled her seatbelt and smiled at me as she hopped out.  I closed and locked the door before turning to face Ali and wrapping my arm around her waist.

We fell into step as we made our way into the mall, passing a group of girls who looked about 16 or so.  As we passed them I heard one of them say ‘Is that Ryan Lewis?’ and I inhaled a deep breath hoping they wouldn’t stop me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the fans, but I knew that Ali wouldn’t like it, and sometimes the fans didn’t understand that we had plans and things to do.  We didn’t have all the time in the world to stand around and take pictures, but I would do it anyways because without the fans, where would we be?

“Ryan? Hello, earth to Ryan.” A voice said as a hand was waved in front of my face.

I focused on what was actually going on in front of my and realized it was Ali who was waving her hand in my face and I had stopped walking.  I shook my head and cleared my thoughts away as I focused on Alison.

“Sorry, was just thinking.” I said.

“I swear I saw smoke coming from your ears. You shouldn’t think too hard, you might hurt yourself.” She said with a serious expression on her face.

“Alright smart ass, keep moving.” I said as I took her hand and pulled her along.

She chuckled as we fell into step again.  We went to the stores that she wanted to go to and after 3 hours, and about 27 bags later, we were standing at Starbucks waiting for our drinks.

“Thank you for everything today.” Ali said as she picked up her drink from the counter.

“It’s no problem.” I said as I picked up my drink.

We decided to head back to the hotel, which once reached seemed like a bad idea because the paps were still swarming the entire place.  I let out a sigh once again as I got out of the car and walked around the car to Ali’s side. I opened her door and she got out, the walking to the trunk to get all of the bags.

Eventually we made it inside the hotel and up to our room.  We walked in to find Ben and Tricia still sat comfortably on the couch watching TV.  Ali and I walked to our room and put everything down, collapsing onto the bed afterwards.
