Ali’s POV

Eventually I had relaxed and Ryan and I ate in silence. Once we were done eating, Ryan took the empty plates and cans down to the kitchen to throw them away while I put a movie on. When he got back, we cuddle up in my bed and just watched in silence for a while.

“Alison?” Ryan asked after about an hour.

“What is it Ryan?” I asked.

“If Jackie refuses to go to this awards show, will you go with me?” He asked.

“I’ll have to think about it. I don’t know if I want to be in the spot light like that.” I answered.

“Okay, I understand that.” He said.

We were silent again until the movie had ended. When the credits started rolling, I climbed out of the bed and walked over, grabbing another movie and putting it in the DVD player. I made my way back to my bed and cuddled up next to Ryan again. Then I got to thinking.

“Ryan?” I asked.

“Yeah?” He responded.

“Did Jackie really get the wrong idea, or is that just what you want her to believe?” I asked.

He looked down at me. He looked a bit surprised by my question. He cleared his throat before opening his mouth getting ready to speak but not saying anything. He closed his mouth and had a look that showed he was thinking.

“I don’t really know.” He finally answered.

“Did earlier actually mean anything to you?” I asked quietly.

“Of course it did Ali. Just because of this whole Jackie situation doesn’t mean I don’t like you.” He replied.

“You’re my brother’s best friend though.” I said.

“Yeah, I know. Ben isn’t happy about it I don’t think.” He said before running a hand through his hair.

“You do that a lot.” I said.

“What?” He asked.

“Whenever you’re stressed or something, you run your hands through your hair.” I stated.

“Oh, you noticed that.” He said as he did it again.

“Or nervous apparently.” I said laughing.
