Chapter1 – Beginning Part I

"Olivia, come here!"

I didn't move from my spot on the couch. I wasn't falling for that again.

My older sister, Alexis, came into the living room, her hands on her hips. "I said, come here."

"I'm not a dog, Lexi."

She walked in front of the TV and glared at me. "This is important."

"More important than me watching TV?"

She grabbed my hand and pulled me up from the couch. She drug me into the kitchen where her laptop was sitting. On the screen was a flier for a new night club that was opening up just downtown. It was flashy and not my type of place to be. But it was definitely hers.

"We have to go. Can you imagine all the cute guys that'll be there?"

"You think I'm interested in cute guys?"

"Well I am. And I think we should go."

"Can't you take one of your friends?" I really wasn't in the mood to spend my Saturday night at a night club with drunk guys who tried groping me every five seconds.

"I can get you in and get you free drinks."

"How? I'm not 21." I wasn't opposed. Just trying to be logical.

"A friend of mine sells fake IDs and another friend of mine knows the bouncer at the club."

"So convenient." I mumbled.

"So you'll go?" She asked excitedly.

I sighed.

She squealed. "You won't regret it. I promise."

I rolled my eyes. I didn't believe her for a second. Night clubs weren't something I did regularly. Or ever. Insinuating that they were was almost an insult to who I was.

But she wanted me to go, especially since she was leaving for school once summer was over. She wanted us to have a long summer full of bonding and getting to know one another. It was a good idea but not my thing. I was fine barely knowing what she was going to school for.

So I had to say yes. I couldn't ruin her summer then make her miserable every time she came back home to visit.

Looked like I was going to a night club. Great.

"I am not wearing that." I said, staring at the dress she had in her hands. It was covered in sequins and looked way shorter than what I was comfortable wearing. Plus it was pink.

Lexi rolled her eyes. "It'll look good on you. Plus it has a built in bra."

"Oh, now that convinces me." I said sarcastically.

"Please just try it on."

I sighed and took the dress from her. I stripped out of my comfortable t-shirt into the itchy dress and stared at myself in the mirror, hating what I saw. The dress was obviously made for my sister, not me. I had no curves, no meat on my bones, and had weird boobs that were just made worse by the dress.

"Tell me I can take it off. Please." I begged.

She put her hands on my shoulders. "You look great."

"Great? That's pathetic."

"You look perfect, Liv."

I sighed. "I hope you don't plan on staying out all night."

"Well if we leave too early, we'll miss all the fun." Nothing about tonight sounded like fun.

"Are mom and dad okay with you taking me to a club?"

"You are being awfully negative tonight." She said, applying blush to my cheeks.

"I take it that's a no."

"Just try to be grateful, okay?"

------

"This is it?" I asked, staring at a gray building with loud dance music coming from inside. There was a line outside with gold chains keeping the line where it was. The bouncer was tall and had broad shoulders. His black jacket made his tan stand out even more. He was the typical guy for Florida.

Lexi rolled her eyes. "Keep an open mind. You might actually like this place."

"Doubtful." I mumbled.

Lexi started walking across the street and I ran to catch up with her. My dress made me feel so exposed and I could swear I felt a draft where my body wasn't covered.

She walked up to the bouncer and held out her I.D. "Jamie Patterson said you could get us in?"

He barely glanced at the I.D. before flipping through the clipboard in front of him. He moved the chain aside for us. "Go on in."

She smiled at him and headed inside, disappearing in the flashing lights.

I struggled to catch up to her, barely able to see and think. The music was blaring and not my type at all. It made me want to go home and crawl into bed.

She said something to me but I couldn't hear it over the music.

"What?" I yelled back.

She smiled and started walking again. Clearly she hadn't heard me either. Halfway to the bar, she stopped dead and started bouncing up and down. "Oh my gosh!"

I rolled my eyes. "What?"

She just pointed at something past a bunch of people dancing.

I attempted to look but couldn't see anything interesting.

She groaned and pulled me over so I had a better view. Sitting in a roped off area was the band, One Direction. There weren't any girls with them but two guys in suits that looked too professional.

I shrugged as I wasn't the one obsessed with them. I only knew of them because of the many posters Lexi still had in her bedroom. "So?"

"They're only, like, the hottest boy band ever!"

"I bet Backstreet Boys' fans thought that too." I said, rolling my eyes.

"You are such a buzz-kill."

I steered her toward the bar. "Buy me something to drink and I won't be."

"The first drink is on me. The rest you have to buy yourself."

"I'm not 21, remember?"

She rolled her eyes and bought two drinks. The bartender carded her but never glanced at me. Perfect.

She handed a drink off to me before glancing at where the famous boys were. "I'm gonna go stalk a little. Do you want to come-"

"I'm gonna step outside. It's too hot in here."

She stared at me for a few extra seconds before she patted my shoulder and was gone.
