I popped two pills into my mouth then put my forehead on the steering wheel. My head was pounding and my hands were shaky. I was so worried about Lex finding out what was going on that nothing else seemed important.
What was I going to do when I got home? What could I say to Lexi that would keep her from being suspicious of my recent behavior? If she found out, she'd tell mom and all hell would break loose.
My phone rang and when I glanced at it, a number I didn't recognize came up. Nevertheless, I picked it up and answered it. "Hello?"
"This is Olivia, right?"
"Yes, who is this?"
"Niall. I'm a friend of Liam's."
I sighed.
"He didn't ask me to call you. He didn't even give me your number."
"Then... why are you calling me?"
"I think Liam made a mistake breaking up with you."
I laughed. "Why's that?"
"It's not so much about before all of that. He's so depressed without you. He just mopes around. He still shows up to rehearsals and stuff but he's not the same Liam."
"You think that's because of me? We only knew each other for a few weeks. We weren't even that serious."
"Liam doesn't feel that way."
I sighed. "Would he be okay with you doing this?"
"No. But if he knew how you felt, maybe that would make him rethink ending things."
I missed being with Liam but at the same time, I'd gotten used to being single again. I was used to not seeing him or having him call me when something happened at home. But I needed time on my own and so did he.
"He really cares about you. Give him another chance."
"I don't know if I can."
"Just think about it."
I stared at the road in front of me, so many thoughts filling my head. Should I try talking to Liam again? Did I want to talk to Liam?
No. I didn't think I did.
A car pulled up beside me and I rolled my window down. I handed over the fifty dollars, trying so hard not to yell at myself over spending so much money.
Xavier had smoke coming out of the car, sunglasses covering his eyes. "Always nice to see you."
I rolled my eyes. "Really."
"Yes. I'm always happy to see one of my customers."
"Do you have my pills?"
He lifted the bottle from somewhere beside him and handed them over...
Only to pull back at the last second.
"You're using them appropriately?"
"What does that even mean?"
"If you die, they'll figure out I was your dealer."
"I won't die."
He handed over the pills. "Be safe, girly. I'd hate to see anything happen to Lexi's sister."
"What is so special about Lexi?"
"Ask her." He said. The car pulled away and I was left with more questions than answers.
I popped four pills into my mouth then put the car into drive.
My phone rang and I glanced at it to see Lexi's number on the screen. I groaned but answered it. "What?"
"Where are you?"
"I'm leaving the college now."
"Olivia, I know you didn't go to the college."
"Lex, I don't know what you're talking about."
"I know you didn't go to the college. I know you dropped your classes."
"I didn't-"
"Don't lie to me. I'm tired of it."
I swallowed and glanced both ways before I pulled out. "Lex, if you just let me explain-"
