2 weeks later.

"I'm only going out for a few things, Olivia. I don't want you two doing anything while I'm gone." Mom said, her purse on her arm and her car keys in her hand.

"I'm assuming watching a movie and making popcorn isn't considered 'anything.'"

She rolled her eyes. "I mean it, Olivia."

I pushed the start button on the microwave. "I know."

"I'm just looking out for you."

I leaned back against the counter and met her gaze.

"I love you, Olivia."

"I love you, too, mom."

She gave me a smile before she left.

The phone rang and I was about to ask Liam to answer it when the ringing stopped.

I grabbed the finished popcorn bag and a spare bowl and walked back into the living room.

Liam was laughing. He had the phone up to his ear. "Yeah, I agree."

I raised my eyebrows as I sat down beside him on the couch.

"Do you want to talk to Liv?"

"Who is it?" I mouthed.

"If you need me, you know where to find me." He said before handing the phone over to me.

My eyes widened and I spoke hesitantly. "Hello?"

"Hey, Olivia. How are you feeling?"

"Niall?"

"We've all been worried about you."

"You don't have to. I'm perfectly fine."

"But you're family now that you're with Liam."

"I'm glad you're willing to put up with me."

"We put up with Liam just fine."

I laughed.

"Let us know if you need anything."

"I will." I hung up then put the phone back.

"You know, we need to go back to where we had our first date." Liam said, grabbing handful of popcorn.

I held up my broken arm. "I can't get this wet, remember?"

"Then I guess I'll have to wait until you're all healed up."

I put the popcorn on the coffee table. "You know, my mom won't be back for about twenty minutes."

"Did you not hear what she said?"

"So what? I almost died."

He sighed and stared at the popcorn. For a few moments, he was silent. Then he got to his feet. "Set your timer. We have nineteen minutes and I'm not getting caught by your mom."

I got to my feet and was about to follow Liam up the stairs when the phone rang. I groaned. "Don't tell me that's my mom."

He looked at the ID and shook his head. "Unknown caller."

I picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"Liv?"

"Lexi! Hey, how are you?"

"Homesick. I know I'm getting better here but it's hard to be away from home for so long."

"You were gone for months with school. How is this any different?"

"I had my freedom, my friends, at school. Here... I  can't really do anything other than the schedule they give me."

"When you come back, you'll be okay again." I hated to see her so upset but she needed to be at the treatment center. She needed to get better.

"I've been thinking of transferring schools. I want to stay home and figure my life out before I travel again."

"That's pretty brave of you. I wouldn't want to move back in with mom if I didn't have to."

She sighed. "I sort of have to. It's safer that way. For everyone."

"I'm sorry, Lex."

"Enough about me. How're things with you and Liam?"

"Good, great. He's been staying at the house these last few weeks."

"I heard about the touring."

"You did?"

"Niall called me. He filled me in."

"Are you two..."

"I don't know. I want to."

"I'll put in a good word for you."

"You're the best."

I laughed.

"Is mom there?"

"She went out."

"Oh, okay. Well I'll call later then."

"Hang in there, Lex. Just a little longer and you'll be home."

"I can't wait."

We hung up and I looked at Liam. "How much time?"

"Seven minutes."

I grabbed his hand and ran for the stairs.

We beat mom and she didn't suspect a thing. And it was perfect.
