Chapter6-Backstage
"How was your date?"
I jumped and flipped on the light to see Lexi sitting on my bed, her arms crossed over her chest.
"What are you doing in my room?"
"I waited up to see how your date went." I knew she wasn't doing it to be nice. She wanted to know what went on. She wanted leverage over me. In whatever way she could get it.
"It was fine. Can you leave?"
"How rude."
"This is my room."
She shrugged and got to her feet. "Be that way then. But I don't think mom and dad will like you dating a celebrity."
"We're not dating. There's nothing to tell."
She narrowed her eyes at me. "You can't stay mum all summer."
I rolled my eyes. "Quit being paranoid."
"Who said I was paranoid?"
"What's gotten into you this summer? This was supposed to be three months of us bonding and getting to know each other better. It doesn't feel like that now."
"I'm just looking out for you. No harm in that, right?"
"I guess not."
She patted my shoulder before walking to the door. "Just remember, Hollywood isn't as nice as I am."

"Do you think it meant anything?" I asked, biting my thumbnail nervously.
"It probably didn't. I mean, it sounds like she just wants to get under your skin." Liam said over the phone.
"I can't believe she's doing this. She's my sister."
"Does she have a secret she doesn't want you knowing?"
She smoked but I already knew that. She drank but she was in college, it was bound to happen. What else could she be hiding? And from me?
"I don't know. She doesn't open up to me."
"Give her time. She's probably not used to telling you her secrets."
"I've never felt so distant from her. Even when she was away we still talked a lot."
"Maybe this scares her."
I sighed. I didn't see my sister as being scared of anything. But I wasn't going to push her. She'd come to me when she was ready.
"I have to go soon. But I wanted to ask if you wanted to come to our concert tonight."
"A concert? Really?"
"You'll be backstage. Unless you want the front row tickets."
I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing. "I've never been to a concert before."
"Never? Well I'm glad I can break that dry spell for you."
"What time should I be ready?"
"The limo will be by around 5."
"You're not coming?"
"Rehearsal. I'd get my head chewed off if I left. Especially to pick up a girl."
I laughed. "Because they've never seen a girl before."
He laughed. "Right? Anyway, the driver will have your pass and all that. Just tell them you're with me and they'll let you in."
"Is it bad that I'm nervous?"
"Yes. I'll do fine."
I rolled my eyes. "Is this how all your girlfriend's over?"
"Only the ones that matter."
