I stuck my hand under the bed and pulled out the orange tube. I shook the tube, expecting a rattling noise. All I got was silence.

I cursed then got my phone out. I searched through my contacts before I got to 'X' and hit send.

"You've reached Xavier. Leave a message after the beep. Or don't. I don't care."

I groaned but waited for the automated response to finish so I could leave a message. "Xavier, it's Olivia. Lexi's sister. I need another refill. Call me back as soon as you can."

I hid the bottle once more then changed into one of my bathing suits. Even though I was extremely unmotivated to do anything with myself, I still enjoyed going out in the nice summer sun and getting in the pool. I wasn't entirely a robot.

An emotionally unstable robot.

"How did your visit to the school go?" Mom asked, taking a sip of her water. Her glass was sweating from the heat outside, unusual for dinner time although I wasn't complaining.

"It went really well."

"Aren't you glad you went?"

I held in a sigh. "Sure."

"You should really think about traveling, Liv. I've seen so many nice places. And the school pays for it all."

"Traveling really isn't my thing."

"The farthest you've gone is across town. You need to get out and see the world."

"I'm not you, Lex. I'm not into all that." But was I starting to become Lexi? Having secrets from everyone, doing drugs, hiding away in my room wasn't something the typical me would do.

No, I wasn't her. I was Olivia. I was my own person.

My phone buzzed and an X popped up on my screen. I immediately grabbed my phone and hid the screen from view.

Both mom and Lex looked at me, waiting for my excuse for being so weird.

"I need to take this. It's from the college."

Mom went back to her dinner but Lex watched me as I got up from the table and left the room.

I went into the bathroom and locked the door. "Xavier, are you still there?"

"Do not leave me hanging, girl. I'm a very busy man."

"I'm sorry. I had to go somewhere where I had some privacy."

"You want the pills?"

"Yes. When can I meet you?"

"Slow your roll, girl. You know it'll cost you this time."

"I know. I have the money."

"Twenty minutes at the mini mart. If you're late, you don't get anything."

"I won't be late. Thank you." I opened the door and Lexi was standing on the other side.

"Who was that?"

"The college. They  need another deposit for my classes."

"It's after hours."

"School's starting soon so they have people staying late to get caught up. Stupid, I know." I tried to walk past her but she grabbed my arm.

"Olivia, what is this about?"

I shrugged her off. "I have to go. If I don't get them the money, they'll drop me from the classes I want."

As I headed down the hallway to the front door, I could feel my sister's glare on my back. I didn't know what all she knew but she knew enough.

Enough to be suspicious.
