Chapter4-DateNight

I couldn't leave my room the next day. My mother had a few friends over for wine tastings and my father was playing pool in the basement with his sports club friends. It was too high class for me. Then again, I had just hung out with a celebrity the night before.

So I stayed in my room. I didn't want to see my parents and their friends and I didn't want to accidentally run into my sister. None of my friends were free. I was bored as I'd ever been.

And I hated cleaning so I wasn't about to clean my room. The dirty clothes in the hamper and the misplaced shoes strewn around my bed weren't moving. So I just laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling.

Then my phone beeped.

I glanced at it lazily, expecting it to be an alert from one of my friends about what they were doing but not an actual invite to do anything with them. But it wasn't any of them.

It was an unknown number: It's Liam. From last night? Please tell me you haven't forgotten me yet. Just wanted to see if you were free.Call me.

Liam Payne. Liam Payne. He wanted to hang out with me? Again? Two times in two days?

Was I really that appealing?

I sat up quickly and tapped on the number. It dialed for me and I waited for him to answer with a fingernail between my teeth. Mycheeks were getting red and my palms were growing sweaty.

Hello?

"Liam, it's Olivia."

I could hear the smile in his voice. I was hoping you'd call me. Well, hoping you didn't find me boring last night.

I laughed without meaning to. Him? Boring? As if.

What was that?

I immediately blush. I didn't mean to say that out loud. "I just said you weren't boring. It was f-a good time."

Are you free tonight?

"One hundred percent. What were you thinking?"

I know a great restaurant in the next city over if you're up for something like that.

"Anything other than a club sounds fine with me."

I'll be by in about fifteen minutes.

"How do you know where I live?"

I'm famous. What can I say?

I laughed and hung up the phone. Then I groan. What am I supposed to wear?

My mom barely nodded when I told her I was going out though I figured she was either confident in my adultedness or she was too drunk off of the wine to care. I was going with the more obvious choice.

I barely made it out the door before the limo pulls up to the house. It slows to a crawl then stops and the driver gets out of the car. Hewalks over to the back door and opens it. Liam walks out and my mouth drops.

He's wearing a dark blue suit with a white shirt underneath and a red tie. It makes him look so mature and... hot.

Before I can walk over to him, someone grabs my arm and pulls me back.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?"

I turned around and there's Lexi, glaring at me. She smelled like cigarette smoke. "What do you care?"

"He's famous."

"So?"

"Why would he like you?"

I know it should have hurt but my sister has feelings just as much as I do and hers are clearly the bigger issue here. "Why do you care? Upset he isn't into you?"

Her glare intensified. "I just thought he'd go for someone prettier is all."

"Maybe he doesn't like the smell of smoke."

She didn't even blink. "I'm telling mom. You know she wouldn't approve of this."

Her jealousy dripped off of her like sweat. What got into my sister while she was away?

"Tell her about this and I'll tell her about the cigarettes." I choose that moment to walk away. I plaster a smile on my face and walk over to Liam at the limo. "All set?"

He smiled back at me and lets me in first. Then he gets in beside me.

"How'd you get my number?" I ask right away because I just can't help myself.

"I had my security guard look it up. Then we GPS'd your house."

"That's a bit... much."

"Does it scare you?"

I grinned at him. "Not in the slightest."

We sit in silence for a little bit and it's comfortable. His body is warm and the heat radiating off of him warms me up. Though it's summer and warm outside, his heat is a good heat. One I didn't know I needed.

"So where are we going? Am I dressed okay?" I wasn't about to ask Lexi for clothes so I was forced to get my own clothes and attempt to make them make me look good. I ended up going with a pink blouse and jeans. It wasn't dressy, not nearly as nice as Liam's suit, but it was clean and smelled good and made me look thin. So I figured it would do.

He took my hand and squeezed it. "Perfect."

My heart pounds in my chest as if it's trying to free itself. I just stare out the window, hoping he doesn't know how nervous I truly am.

He's the first to speak up this time. "I'm sorry I forgot to answer you. I was thinking of Cafe Artist. In St. Peter's?"

My eyebrows rise. "That's a bit... much, don't you think?"

"Is it not your style?"

"The food is good but... expensive. My parents took my sister and I there when she graduated and it... was a lot."

"Money's not an issue."

"I know that but..." I didn't want him to shell out money for me. I was only worth a movie and a fast-food drive-thru date. Not this.

He put his free hand on my knee and I sighed in relief that the jeans don't have a hole in them in that spot. "I want you to have a good time. If I'm doing it wrong-"

"No," I blurted out, afraid he would take me back home. I did not want to go back if I could be with him instead. "I think it'll be fun."

He smiled and turned his head to look out the window. "I hope so."
